I would like to have IM and Email available quickly and easily. I can do this now by connecting to the cell phone but it really isn't convenient. WiFi helps sometimes, but there just aren’t enough hotspots available.

I'm to the point where I have to make a new purchase decision. PPC or Blackberry. I prefer to keep going with the PPC and am willing to pay a few extra bucks to a 3rd party service if necessary.

So what are the options out there and what are your experiences?

In the PPC family, you best option sounds as though it would be a Windows Mobile Phone Edition device. Your existing service provider most likely has something in their offerings. You will find that all the major providers will have something in their stables. You could also look at a SmartPhone but you may not find that it matches your needs.
