Cheap Screen Protectors

Is there a way to get the screen protector material on a roll? I'm a little bit leery about using static cling stuff like saran wrap or clear vinyl, because I'm not sure what kind of damage can be done by the static. I'm thinking the glue on contact paper might be a bit too sticky, leaving a residue. Somebody somewhere must make screen protector material in an industrial size from which these various companies cut their own for their individual screens.

I've heard there aren't any static problems with using clear vinyl. You can also try transparency sheets if you wish. You can get these on a roll, but I'm not sure if a standard consumer can get the "proper" screen material in bulk.
