Almost there. Drop it to $99 and you have a good entry level PIM only (well almost.) Pocket PC.

Still costs way too much...

I'm still bitter about the discontinued 1945's.

Price drops are good, but I agree this needs to keep falling. If they could sell it for anything below $150, then I think we would truly have an "Entry" level PPC, comparable to the Palm Zire.

For $200, I still expect some frills.

I agree at $199 it is still overpriced... I think maybe $99can...

The 1945 is still available (refurbished) for pretty cheap. I picked one up from hpshopping.com for a little over $200, and the pricegrabber has a couple of less well-known dealers selling it for ~$180.

I would still get a T|E over rz1715. Honestly I doubt I will ever be willing to pay for this unit even after another $100 drop. Using a PocketPC with 32MB RAM just scares me off.

HP has got to be kidding...

I agree with others here -- It "might" be worth $100, tops...

Can I just say that this is one amazingly bad machine? It is such a step back from HP's previous "entry-level" devices, (the 1910 and 1935.) I agree with the above posters that this thing should be priced no higher than $150.

The rz1715 doesn't have 32 MB of RAM. It has 15 MB of RAM.

You're right. I just checked and it has 25MB RAM including 10MB ipaq filestore. I knew it comes with very small memory, and assumed that it should be 32MB. Well, HP did even worse than my low expectation. lol.

Is that US$199?

Bah, I'd still stick with one of HP's past units (e.g. h1945, h2215, h4155) if I was to be spending that kind of money.

The 1715 stands as the absolute worst choice in current Pocket PC's, bar none. What really dissapoints me the most is the fact that I cannot justify switching to any of the current hp models, even though my position at my company would allow me to purchase any model I choose. The 6300 series is too slow and is locked to T-Mobile, the 3715 is perhaps the best model for the money, but does not offer anything substantial over my 4155, which is super sleek and works nearly flawlessly. The 4700 series is too big and I absolutely loathe the touchpad (I would actually consider this model if it did not have a touchpad, because the screen is so awesome). The 3400 series is just a dumbed down 3700 series, and the new 2xxx I have yet to see live, but does not seem to offer anything I want. I am holding out for an MPx or a HTC Blue Angel, which our company Cingular rep told me are both coming very soon (in fact, he was actually pushing the devices at a sales call to me). Until then, my 4155 shall reign supreme. It is just so sweet in my Vaja case! 0X

Yep. I'm still holding on to my Ipaq 1915. When I bought it last year, I was under the impression that technology would move forward - not backward. I was kinda expecting something with WLAN for about the same price as my 1915.

Well, now that their low end machine has worse specs then my 1915, and their high end machines cost a lot more then the ones last year, I'm very tempted to switch to another company. Probably a Loox.
