Well its at 279 right now.
It has built in wi-fi, bluetooth and 624mhz sounds really fast
and 280 seems really cheap.
I am not sure
I have an old clie NR70V, it was pretty cool but seing as how palms dont relaly upgrade and palms going to this linux ****
PPC seems like the right choice
I need to know a few things
How is the battery life using Wifi and backlight?
Also what resolution is the screen??
And do you all reccommend it?
Thanks all
-Mike

Can not answer your question... but this device does seem to have it a lot going for it. It does not have a VGA screen though... resolution is the standard 320x240...
If you want more info... post at http://www.aximsite.com/

It's 320x240, and it's that way because for a while Microsoft had declared that that was to be the resolution, AFAIK. But now there's the VGA models.

You'll find two main standards in Pocket PC resolutions at the moment: QVGA (240x320) and VGA (480x640). I'd opt for VGA if all you want to do is bring tears out of your eyes. That's how beautiful the screen is. :)
Of course, I'm still waiting for the influx of square-resolution devices which should have either 240x240 or 480x480 resolutions, IIRC.
If you're after a Dell, the X50v has a VGA resolution. Otherwise, other models include the Toshiba E800, E830; Asus MyPal A730; Fujitsu-Siemens Loox 720; HP iPAQ hx4700.

well im after the dell because of the 620mhz processor. built in wifi and bluetooth alll for under 300
which sounds very good to me
Is there a noticebal difference from a 320x240 to a 320x480
?
i just want it to look nice

Yes and no. I've compared the two resolutions before and it is noticeable to an extent, but it's nothing to cry over. 240x320 is still usable when you're coming from a 320x480 resolution. However, I'd reassess that statement if you were coming from a VGA 480x640 resolution. ;)
Personally, I think the X30 (624MHz) is a great buy and you certainly get a decent set of features. Also, it has Windows Media Player 10 Mobile on it - something a lot of manufacturers have not yet provided for some of their past models or current low to mid-end units.

It is definitely worth the extra cash. As for Palm moving towards Linux, this is perhaps the best move they can make. Linux is by far one of the best OS's in existence.

Roboto,
Hello and welcome to the forum!
Judging from the nature of your questions, I think that the best advice I can give is to go down to your local CompUSA, (or something equivalent,) and take a look at a PPC device in person. (Most of the ones you'll see will be HP's.) Look at the screen and compare it directly to a Palm device (bring your Clie with you.) Most of the PPC's out there have a the same resolution as the x30, (240 x 320.) I have found the standard PPC screen to be just as usable as the Hi-Res one on my Tungsten T3.
Also, when you're down at the electronics store, take a look at the HP4705. This is the VGA model from HP. The VGA screens on the 4705 and the Dell x50v are a LOT nicer than the standard PPC screen, (or the Clie screen for that matter.) If you really think that you'd like having the VGA screen, you can find the Dell x50v for around $450 or so.
In either case, they're both great PDA's and are priced very reasonably compared to the competition.
Good luck!

well i think im gonna actually go for the x50v
i havent had a chance to go compare anythings but many features have lured me towards it.
The 16mb Grafics chip , 64mb ram/128mb rom and CF +SD slot
and the VGA screen.
Plus i have a friend at dell who might be able to get me the x50v for 300
And could someone tell me the difference from ram/rom
i know rom is read only memory
but why would there be more of it
i assume you place stuff in the ram
and it uses the rom to hold the stuff but can i also put programs in the rom
thanks again for all the help guys

ROM is something of a misnomer here. It's flash memory. Like a CF or SD card has. So it's not dependent on power to keep it's info, but it's slower than actual RAM.

roboto, FWIW, I, too, bought the X30 624Mhz and kept it for about a day before I decided I didn't like it. I returned to the Dell website and promptly got an RFA and made an order for the X50v instead.
To me, the X30 just felt awful in my hand -- boxy, clumsy. I didn't like just how light it felt -- too insubstantial (I don't know why, but I don't mind a somewhat heavier feel to a PPC).
Conversely, the X50v has been a terrific device. The VGA screens are wonderful, and whenever I return to my old iPAQ 1910 with QVGA, I realize how much better the VGA experience is.
