I've never tried Phatnotes, but use PI, and just dl'd the upgrade to 5.6.

Should I try Phatnotes? What will it do for me ?

BTW, I use lots of categories to organize appointments, tasks, and notes.

What is the major difference between Phatnotes and Phatpad ?

thanks,
Michael

PhatPad is more of a scratchpad, PhatNotes is more of a notes program similar to the built-in notes app.

The PhatNotes that's bundled with PI is the Lite version so it offers no synching with the desktop. However, you can still see the PhatNotes notes in PI's Notes app, along with the standard notes. And this version of PhatNotes has a database backup/restore feature so no data wil be lost in the case of an unfortunate event (if you backup the notes regularly, that is ;) ).

You may be able to drag notes from PhatNotes Lite notes to Outlook notes and vice-versa in PI, but I can't remember as I switched to the Standard version (syncs with Outlook Notes) some time ago. PhatNotes Standard and Pro also sync Outlook/PI categories with the notes if you use that feature. Notes does not, nor is it intuitive to figure out that you can categorize notes in desktop Outlook.

If you use Calligrapher, I highly recommend PhatPad to go along with it. It makes quick jots a snap.

Welcome 8)

I forgot to mention that PhatPad's notes show up in PI's note view as well.
