Long time reader......First time poster!

I used to work for T-Mobile, very closely with Product Development. Needless to say, I have been a long-time addict of the PocketPC OS. I have recently left TMO and much to my dismay all of the toys. I was a robust user of the MDA III/PDA2K. I LOVE IT! However, it stayed in Bellevue with TMO.

So, now I much ACTUALLY PURCHASE a PPC. Since I am such a cheap *&^$%* I'm opting for a PPC and a separate phone. The Dell X50v seems to fit my wallet, as well as my power demands.

The only question is the matter of Bluetooth. I want to setup the Axim to "dial" (via BT) my cell phone. No Problems there. The problem lies in the use of bluetooth when the device is "off". One of the things we crippled in the h6315 was BT. When the user shut the screen of /"power off" we then had the BT radio shut off.

Is that the case with the X50v?

I need to be able to have the device automatically connect to GPRS to update via Exchange 2003 every 10 mins. If the BT Radio is off when the screen is off that won't happen.

Any help would be great! Thanks!

I haven't tested the exact scenario you're describing (I just got my X50v back today - first unit was bad), but you should be able to do what you want with the X50v. I'll see if I can test that scenario out...

If you turn the Axim off, of course Bluetooth is going to be turned off too, and it won't come back on until you turn the Axim on again. You can toggle the screen off without turning the rest of the device off, but it will eat a lot more power than being 'all the way' off.

Also, there are programs that let you turn just the screen off, keeping everything else running. Spb Pocket Plus' Today plugin has one of these built in. I've tried a few others but none of them works as nicely as this one does.

But also there would be ways to programmatically turn the PPC back on even if it's off.
