Through these "virtual" input devices, PPC Tablet helps users remotely control a desktop or laptop PC by sending keystrokes or mouse movements to it, through an ActiveSync connection or any TCP/IP network connection, wired or wireless. It can also help users speed up repetitive data entry or software operation by using PPC Tablet's macro keys."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/wey-20041209-TabletRCS.gif" /><br /><br />Amorphous Media Design have just released PPC Tablet Remote Control Suite 2.0 - a control program for the Pocket PC that supports network security and profiles for popular applications such as Microsoft PowerPoint and Windows Media Player. It is compatible with Pocket PC 2002 devices running the .NET Compact Framework, and all Windows Mobile 2003 and Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition devices (including VGA devices). To celebrate the release, the developers are holding a Layout Profile Design Contest in which you can win yourself a full version of the software. All you need to do is submit your customised layout profiles to Amorphous Media Design and submissions will be judged on the following five categories: Originality, Usefulness, Entertainment/Multimedia, Technical Application, and Productivity. The last day for submissions is December 20, 2004, so get cracking! More information on the contest can be found <a href="http://www.amorphous-media.com/ppctablet/whatisit.asp">here</a>, and if you wish to purchase the program, <a href="http://www.handango.com/ampp/store/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=311&productId=144254&productType=2">Handango</a> is selling it for $14.99. A trial version is also available. [Affiliate]

unlike the first remote display program...it automatically connects to your pda when it is in the cradle...cool!

Does this do the same thing?

I'm looking at 'remote control suite' to control my MultiMedia PC over my wireless network. I'm currently evaluating NetRemote Pro (http://www.promixis.com/products.php?section=netremote) but it's twice the price at $29.99.

Those powertoys are largely limited, and I think it's a very apples-and-oranges comparison when you put them and this Tablet RCS software package together. AMD (no - not the CPU makers. :P) are actually the creators of the old TabletPC software that we posted on many months ago, and the performance of that was very good, so you should expect good things from this latest release. If in doubt, remember that there is a trial copy which you can have a look at first. :)

Not really the same thing as what this thread is about, but thanks anyway!
I was using Remote Display Control which is essentially the same thing but requires PPC deployment of client and doesn't start it automatically.

Awsome!

Now if only it had the hardware buttons...

Great idea, but no hardware button support, and no fullscreen greatly reduce it's usability. Use GAPI if they must for fullscreen, it's really needed

I use the remote display control powertoy a lot, but what I would really like is a program that upon activation will log onto my computer, so that I can dock my PPC, run that program and my desktop will be logged on.

Even if it won't be possible on the first logon (only after standby or 'lock workstation') it will be great.

I just received an email update from the developers informing me of new profiles available for download. You can find these here. (http://www.amorphous-media.com/ppctablet/profiles.asp) The webpage provides full details on how to install them.

Among them, you will find a Firefox profile created by Jeff Blundell, and an iTunes profile and a Winamp profile, created by yours truly. :D

Enjoy!

Do you know if it is possible to install the server software of PPC Tablet in a PC without activesync but visible from the PPC by a wifi network ?

Thanks

Yes it works. You can install the server software on the PC, and run the included CAB on the Pocket PC. You can then control the PC from the Pocket PC over an active Wi-Fi connection, without the need of an ActiveSync connection.

Also, Version 2.1 was just released. I'll make a news post about it within the next couple of hours.
