I've decieded to create my own mini-Ipod using my PDA. This all came about with my not so pleasant experience with the Ipod I bought and returned.

What I would like is maybe some pointers as to where I might find a good deal on some big memory cards(1gig-2gig) and what would be the best player.

Cheers

For the player, I like PocketMVP. It's free and supports easy-to-create playlists.

To find the best deals on memory cards, go to the Pocket PC Thoughts homepage and enter your criteria in the Price Grabber search box in the upper right-hand corner. That's really one of the best ways to find bargains, because online stores change their prices so often.

You should be able to find a 1GB CF memory card for less than $75.

I like MortPlayer 3.1. Has everything including a big button screen version and landscape support so you can use it like a touch screen while driving with the backlight off to save power (I use it on a motorcycle and I can do everything with fairly thick gloves on), effects (with presets and user created presets), does great Shoutcast streaming, and with Net Use from Bizznet, I can play stuff with the wifi off my PC's hard drive anywhere around my property.

Oh yeah, it's free. http://www.sto-helit.de/freeware/pocketpc/mortplayer/en/index.pl

There are a lot of players out there that people use.
Windows Media Player
Pocket Player
PocketMusic
MortPlayer
GSPlayerHave a look at these. It really is a personal preference kind of thing.

For me, Betaplayer and Winampaq.
Both are free.

I like Mort Player. The car screen comes in real handy. I have to live with a 128 Meg CF card for now, and I can only carry about enough MP3s for a couple days of driving before I have to delete and upload more. It's still really nice to have.
