Item on Start menu is 'sticking'

Hopefully someone knows an answer to this:
I selected 'games' to be on my start menu, and discovered that by doing so, when loading new games onto my Ipaq they don't show in the games folder. So I want to remove games from the start menu, but when I try to do this, I get an 'Unable to move this item' error message. I think I can erase the link from the start menu by using Activesync, but will I cause more problems than cures? Am I better off doing a hard reset & starting from scratch?

When I get the "unable to move this item" message it's usually when I have a shortcut to the item directly in the start menu folder.

If you move/delete that shortcut from the start menu folder on the file system you should be able to add or remove that item from the start menu without this error - no hard reset necessary.
