Not my choices... but to each their own... I agree with several of the selections... as they are the definitive applications in their field such as Resco explorer... however I feel there are some better choices than those selected... but then I guess that is why we each have our own opinions...

I would choose TodayPlus over Battery Pro any day... but then TodayPlus is not currently distributed.

Memory management... MemMaid is a good choice... but I like Pocket Mechanic...

As I mentioned... you can not argue with Resco Explorer... though there are some good freewares... Pocket Commander and GSFinder to name two...

Groovy Photo Contact Management... wouldn't know.. do not own a PPC Phone... nor would I want one....

Travelling The Earth... a good program, not anything I would use... but nicely done all the same...

Managing your finances... I much prefer Cash Organizer... over Mastersoft's Money...

The other choices are all good... like I said... it's nice to able to pick and choose one's favorites... I do not think there is a definitive list of actual "Killer Apps", everyone will have their own that suits their own needs...

Battery Pack Pro claims to have a memory cleaner. Doesn't this make MemMaid a bit redundant? Sounds like a waste of memory to me.

How about installing the demo to see for yourself, MemMaid's cleaner is very advanced compared to any other cleaner program.
And MemMaid is not just a memory cleaner. Maids don't just clean you know ;)
MemMaid is a memory manager with tons of features (the cleaner is just one module), again it's best to try it for yourself.

Waiting for your comments

I don't use any of the tools listed, nor do I have any interest in using any of them. Guess I don't share anything in common with the author.

How about my killer list:

BananaPC - free, small, excellent task manager and mute button

MortPlayer - decent free MP3 player (awkward UI but better than MediaPlayer)

NoteM - MP3 recorder

Eval - gee, a calculator that figures that 1+2*3 = 7, not 9 (plus a ton of other cool features)

PHM Registry Editor - free regedit, very useful

I think the list is skewed for the products they sell. No PIM app listed? It doesn't look like the site carries Pocket Informant or Agenda Fusion. I'm disappointed that this made the front page as a straight article, without clearly stating it is just an ad for a sponsor. It's not until you go to the full article that you can see it is a "sponsored article."

Jason, I know how you feel about people blocking ads, even though you do allow members the option. Is this just a way around ad-blockers? I can't see it as a legitimate article about must-have apps, since it only talks about the apps they sell and then offers a discount on each one in the list.

Hmm. Well, I thought my text was pretty obvious:

"Joe Wee from ClickApps has written an article that covers some of the best apps that they sell" (emphasis added)

I routinely link to sponsored articles once from the front page when we publish the article as part of my promotion of their content. Advertising is the only way we can keep this site running, so it's unfortunate that you're bothered by this, but it's not something that I'll stop doing.

Jason, if you check my member settings, you will see I do not block ads from PPCT. I rarely click-through, but I often read them. I was simply stating that I believe there ought to be a very clear delineation between ad content and journalistic content. I assume front page articles are just that -- articles -- especially when the icons tag them as such. I would have read the whole spiel from clickapps, if I had known up front that it was an ad. Instead I was turned off by what I felt was a deceptive (in my opinion) way of getting me to read an ad.

I trust PPCT for PPC news, opinions, insights, help from the forums and much more. That trust comes from feeling I will get news and opinions uncolored by ad dollars. I'll read your ads, but I would prefer to clearly know that's what they are, so I can continue to trust the rest of the content.

"Joe Wee from ClickApps has written an article that covers some of the best apps that they sell - it's worth a read, especially if you're looking to buy some apps for the holiday season!"

I don't think there was anything invasive about the post. From time to time, the news team post on people's opinions, whether they are sponsored articles or not. Now whether you agree with a person's opinions is another matter, and it's open to comment as others have done so in this thread.

Sure - while this may be a sponsored article, it is still a representation of Joe's comments on what he sees as the best apps from ClickApps. I don't think it's anything different to Joe Bloggs' opinion on what he sees as being "good programs" from Company X. Well, these were my thoughts anyway... :) (No offence intended).

I agree, how can a list of killer apps. not include Pocket Informant!! It's the probably the most sold application for PPC.

I would add: eWallet for keeping all (over 100 ??) passwords handy but safe, and buttonMax so I don't need to use my stylus any more (well almost  )

For me best cleaner program is SKTools.
I think only Resco Explorer and VNC client in this article can be killer apps  .

If your favorite app isn't listed over at ClickApps then why not tell the app's creators so that they can add it ? Joe over at ClickApps and ClickGamer really looks after us developers and their admin system is a treat. It's a fairly new (and cool) site so spread the word ...

MemMaid looks good, but the article states that it's currently being offered at 40% off, but when you click the link it's listed at 30% off. How do you get the extra 10% off?

Hi,

oops.. sorry it is my fault - the discount is 30% not 40% for Memmaid

Thanks,

Example:
Killerapp for filemanagement = Resco Explorer
Total commander (freeware) is at least equal or in some regards better, e.g. it contains a zip/unzip capability

Last i checked, a killer app was something that drove demand for a platform:
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=killer+app&r=67

Since when did a slick battery bar or task manager COMPEL someone to say "I MUST BUY A POCKETPC FOR THIS!"

There is a distinction between a useful app and a killer app
