View Full Version : Memory Leak w/ Spb Imageer and iPaq hx4705?

Hey guys, I'm using Spb Imageer (v1.2 build 40707) with my HX4705 and it appears that with each additional image that I view, more memory (program + storage) is allocated until at some point, there is no longer any additional memory left and I'm forced to close the app (which then results in 20MB of combined program+storage memory freeing up).

Anyone else seeing this? I've already sent a note to the developer, but was hoping that perhaps someone can verify that they see the same issue or know of some workaround.

Thanks.

Yes now that you mention it, I'm having that problem too. I don't use Spb Imageer that much (only when I take a lot of pictures ;)), but it only took about 2 minutes to run out of memory. Spb is usually good about fixing bugs though. I'll report the problem too if you want.

Please do. It couldn't hurt. At least that would show that this is not just a one-time problem with my device and its configuration.

In the meantime, I've been looking at other image applications but nothing I've seen comes close to Spb Imageer in terms of features (not to mention the fact that Imageer is one of few that displays images in WM2k3SE properly).

There is the new Resco Photo Viewer (http://www.resco-net.com/picview.asp). However, I personally prefer Imageer over Photo Viewer, but it's still worth checking out...

Yup. I actually have an older version of Resco Photo Viewer registered, so I knew that upgrading was always an option. RPV was actually my regular viewer until Spb Imageer had come along.

If the reply from Spb takes a long time, then I may have to look at paying the upgrade fee.

Here's the response from Spb:
Hello,
It seems that this problem occurs only on VGA devices. I have just
reproduces it. Thank you for your feedback. I will pass your letter to our
developers. We will fix this issue by the next version of the program.
Looks like an issue they weren't aware of. Just have to wait for the next version at this point.

Yep, just got this response from Spb. :D

This problem happens on iPaq 47xx. We are investigating it at the moment.
