i am looking for a freeware, which the simple purpose is, launch a program, but if the program is running currently, just close it.

for example, if press hardware button 1, will launch pocket word, and then press button 1 again, close pocket word.

I think you may be asking for two different things here. Your first request relates to program launchers and your second request relates to task managers.

Of course you can always assign any hardware button to a program, but in terms of good program launchers, there are at least a couple of solutions that allow you to place program icons right on your today screen for quick launching (without going to the programs menu). One is Spb Pocket Plus (http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/pocketplus/?en) and the other is a freeware applet called Launcher (http://www.scottandmichelle.net/scott/cestuff.html).

That same Pocket Plus application also installs a task manager (in addition to extensions to the Pocket IE and File Explorer application) which allows you to click on the upper right hand corner for a quick view of all running applications. If you prefer a freeware equivalent, you can try either PocketNav (same page where the Launcher application is found) or Magic Button (http://www.trancreative.com/mb.aspx). There are several other task managers that people enjoy using (GigaTask, WisBar, WisBar Advance, etc.). I'd recommend searching this forum for those apps if you want to know more.

I'd recommend that you check out http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/en/index.php; they have an excellent selection of PocketPC freeware, along with good reviews of each. The kind of apps that you are looking for will probably be found in their "System Tools" or "Task manager" sections. I have found lots of great PPC software there over the years, and it is much easier to use now that they have an English version of the site!

Here's another great freeware Pocket PC site: http://www.freewareppc.com/. Good luck in your search.

I use Gigabar http://www.snapfiles.com/get/pocketpc/gigabar.html as a task manager. The picture in this link doesn't capture the beauty of the application. It displays all running tasks along the top of screen task bar, allowing you to easily switch between them. Closing a task is as easy as tap-and-hold then select close. It's very useful.

I think you all missed what this guy is after.

He wants to press a hardware button to open a program, then press the same button to close the program.
So when he presses the button, the program checks to see if the program is running, & if it is, then it closes the program. If the program isn't running then it opens it.

I can't say I have come across anything that does that.
