Well, I've been cruising around the forums lately and I'm just wondering what you guys would recommend for an entry level PPC. I've worked my way through a few Palm OS systems over the last few years, including a visor Edge, Palm m130 and most recently a Sony Clie nx70v. I'm just curious what is absolutely necessary as far as memory and functionality goes. I'm wondering if you have anything for sale or any recomendations as to what model i should look for. Also, could you tell me what the god of ppc's is as of now? I just want to see the difference between the two. I'm curently a student, so my only restricting factor is cost. Pleae help!

A good entry lvl ppc might be either an Ipaq 1935 or a Dell Axim X5. With Dells there is a few emulators for consoles that will not work as well as they would on an Ipaq, but the Dell makes up for it in the general overview: speed, display, and just system itself. The most powerful Pocket PC out in the market is the Dell Axim X50v i believe.
-- I had an Ipaq 1935 when i was in freshman highschool last year and it worked like a charm with my keyboard. Cheap too :P

Yeah, the 1930, although quite old now it is still a good pocket pc and is very cheap!

Check out PPCTs Price Grabber search of the week:

I would recommend grabbing an h1940/5 as it includes built in bluetooth and it price is only 20-30 more that the h1930 in Ebay (on pricegrabber it's cheaper this week!).
Otherwise the h1910 is a really cheap, nice looking PPC that you can overclock to a decent speed.

IMHO... The 1900's series is the sweetest form factor ever in a PPC!

I also have to agree with the 1940/1945 as a good entry-level PPC to consider. It has a nice form factor, and is packed with a good set of features for its price. Aside from that, the performance of the included S3C2410 266MHz processor is actually quite good.

i agree - this form factor is the best of all time. i have a 4150 that i refuse to upgrade mostly because there is no comparable form factor. if HP would keep this design and just keep upgrading the guts - i'd keep buying them!!!
good luck. and ps - i agree - the 1900 series is perfect in price and features for a new user.

My mother in law has a 1940. She uses it to play games. I cry every time I see how much potential it is not being used for.
My wife would kill me if I asked her to trade for my 3765 though.
I'd recommend it. With the built in blue tooth and the built in SD slot, it's got a lot of basics for the price and yet it's easily upgradeable. The 1910 only has 16 Megs of ROM, but a full 64 of RAM. The 1940 has 32 ROM. I would probably get one.

I'd try eBay when looking for a 19XX series. Or other online forums. When I was looking to replace my Toshiba e310, I was looking for a good deal for a 1910 on both eBay or in the Buy/Sell forums of the major PPC boards. I finally snagged a 1930 (suddenly having double the memory of my e310 is fabulous!) by searching on craigslist.org in the buy/sell sections for people wanting to sell their PDAs - you'd be amazed at some of the great deals, usually people who bought them and now don't use them, or are upgrading to newer models. I found my 1930 for only $75.
Just FYI :-)

Also, bear in mind that the h1910 is using an even older OS. ;) So you'll probably want to stick with the h1940 (or the h1930, if the h1940 cannot be afforded).
