I am really hoping someone can help me, rung MS and some ppl, nobody could give me any answer :(

For the last few years I have been using my ipaq 3630 with pocket money that came with it, and I also uses desktop Money 2002 to sync with it. That combo never gave me any trouble except lost a transcation once when it did a hard reset and I had to restore it. (I think I've got my money worth with that ipaq, if only the digitiser haven't gone funny, it would be in perfect condition and can turn into a museum piece)

As I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Loox 720, can anyone tell me:
1. If my existing pocket money work with my new Loox? My guess being no.
2. If I get a new version of pocket money install on the Loox, will that be compatible with Money 2002 or do I have to upgrade to something like 2004? Since what I've read with 2005 haven't been very positive.

Anyhelp will be great.
Thanks.

Joseph

You should have no problems running the money 2002 on your new device.

You should have no problems running the money 2002 on your new device.

I'm not sure if this is the case. I remember when I first upgraded to a WM2003 device (my old iPaq 5550) I coudn't get Money 2003 to work. In fact Microsofts own site states the following:

Microsoft Money 2003 For Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs is also still available, but please note that it requires Windows Mobile 2002 software for Pocket PCs and is NOT compatible with Windows Mobile 2003 software.

I would guess therefore that if Money 2003 doesn't work with WM2003 then Money 2002 won't either.

One final point, you won't just be able to install Money 2004 on your Loox if you want to sychronize, as the PPC version of Money 2004 requires Money 2004 for the desktop.

The end result of my upgrade to the iPaq 5550 was to upgrade Money also - I think you'll have to do the same :(

I use UK Money Business edition 2002 and I can't upgrade as there has not been a later business edition version of Money. I'm not happy about not being able to sync up Money with my PPC. :|

I couldn't use the 2004 UK version of Money Personsal either since it didn't seem to work with the PPC version. As a result I had to buy a US version from eBay ('cos Microsofts software Gestapo won't let online stores such as Amazon sell the US version to UK residents).

There is an option in the US version to make the default currency pound sterling so it works fine, but you won't be able to use it via your banks online services. I don't anyway as my bank doesn't support Moneys features so it's no a big loss.

I do not believe you will be able run Pocket Money 2002 on a WM2003 device without a little work around rotine. The process below has worked great for last 11 months since I was too cheep to upgrade from my Money desktop 2003. Assume uf you apply same process, you could still use your Desktop Money 2002 and sync with Pocket Money 2004. Sub 2002 for everywhere you see 2003 below.

FYI, Pocket Money 2004 is available at MS web site.

Then follow this install process.....

Pocket Money 2004 DOES work with desktop Microsoft Money 2003.

First, install Pocket Money 2004 through ActiveSync. It will complain that you don't have desktop Money 2004. Ignore this message and continue to install.

After Pocket Money 2004 is installed on your WM2003 device, disconnect it from your desktop.

Install Pocket Money 2003 with your WM2003 device disconnected. The next time you connect your WM2003 device via ActiveSync, it will ask if you want to upgrade or reinstall Pocket Money. Answer NO.

Now you should be able to sync Pocket Money 2004 with desktop Money 2003.
