removing Avantgo - slowing restore operation

At the moment I'm having to hard-reset & restore my iPaq 3970 frequently - think I've narrowed it down to an ebook i'm reading that's causing regular lock-up/freeze.

anyway, when restoring my machine after a hard reset from my daily backup file, it takes AGES!!! I stopped using the Avangto app about a year ago, but the restore operation goes through several hundred Avantgo files - is there anyway i can "kill off" the avantgo app? can't see a "uninstall" option anywhere.

I think on some devices, a version of AvantGo was loaded into ROM, thereby making it impossible to remove. However, this shouldn't affect restoring. You might want to not restore the files in \Windows\AvantGo, which I believe are just the files it downloads when you do a sync.

think you're right applejosh, think Avantgo must already be in my ROM, but i cannot see an option within Activesync to tell it NOT to restore different things. Or should i just delete the files in \windows\avantgo
