<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.ppcw.net/?itemid=2137' target='_blank'>http://www.ppcw.net/?itemid=2137</a><br /><br /></div><i>"On Wednesday's press conference, O2 showed their next Pocket PC Phone Edition device, the Xda IIi, first time publicly. Basically, as previously said, the Xda IIi comes in the same housing as the previous Xda II and the differences are in the details."</i><br /><br />The XDA IIi is a strict evolution of the XDA II, but a nice one at that: they take the sleek XDA II formfactor, add a 520MHz processor, WiFi, a 1.3MP camera, and WM2003 Second Edition with WMP10. The really interesting part is the software bundle, and Arne does an excellent job with screenshots. Take a look at this dialer, for example:<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/parekh-20041122-XDAIIiDialer.jpg" /><br /><br />The screenshots suggest to me that O2 and Microsoft are integrating an increasing amount of Smartphone-like functionality into the device -- and that's an excellent thing. 8)

Actually, I think that's HTC that's adding the Intellipad and Intellidialer software to their Pocket PC Phones. It's also included on the MDA Compact and imate JAM.

It would be sweet if they would also give it to us PDA2K users in the form of a software upgrade. The "intellidialer" software was the one thing I loved about my MPx200 and I really miss it. Seems like MS could have integrated this into the PPCPE devices sooner, rather than counting on OEM's to provide the solution.

I really like the IIi specs and would love to see the same guts put into the PDA2K class devices, as I really like the keyboard.

Man, I would give a fortune if I can get the IntelliPad and IntelliDialer as just software I can install on my hp6315. The built-in PPCPE dialer and input options just plain suck for one-handed use.

agreed. that intellidialer system seems to be cure a lot of xda/mda dialer quirks.

i've seen one in action, but i always notice when my girlfriend curses at her iMate (mdaII) because she has to use her fingernails in the cold to call up a contact.

I WANT IT, or better, SHE WANTS IT!
(oh, we both want it ;) huh huh )
