Is it possible to install VPN on your PPC?

Are you after a remote access solution? If so, there are a number of remote access solutions available such as GoToMyPC: http://www.gotomypc.com/

If you were after something else, let us know.

Actually I have just ordered a new Dell Axim 50v and want to use it to access my work e-mail. We use Cisco software on our laptops and was wondering if this software could be loaded on the ppc and operate as my laptop does.

In that case, you may be interested in NetOp (http://www.netop.com/ target=).

Unfortuately, VPN clients for the PPC are extremely rare. There are only a few of them out there and they're not free (nor cheap).

Personally, I've only used mobianVPN, which was (http://www.certicom.com/index.php?action=product,mvpn) an excellent client. It was compatible with the Cisco VPN Concentrator 3000 server and free trials were offered by Certicom. Because they've left the market, you probably won't find any *legal* copies since you require a licensed certificate to run the program.

AdmitOne was another reliable product. But again, it was discontinued ealier this year.

Good clients available today include Check Point (http://www.checkpoint.com/products/vpn-1_clients/vpn-1_clients_wince.html) and SonicWALL (http://www.sonicwall.com/applications/remote.html), which I can't comment on. They go for around 50$ last I checked. There might be a few others I'm missing, but these are the most popular ones.

If anyone does come across a free VPN client for WM2003, make sure to drop me a line

Actually - on behalf of Fujitsu-Siemens (who have licenced movianVPN) we are now hosting (perfectly legally!) all versions of movianVPN at FirstLoox.org.

You can find the mVPN section of our website here: http://www.firstloox.org/index.php?categoryid=20

Or via our downloads section here: http://www.firstloox.org/index.php?categoryid=3

The news anouncing our hosting of mVPN is posted here: http://www.firstloox.org/index.php?categoryid=1&p2_articleid=112 and a dedicated support forum can be found here: http://www.firstloox.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=62

Oh and - did I mention that it is COMPLETELY FREE...?! :)
