I have a Performance Service Plan at Best Buy and was waiting until the 4705 was in store to exchange my problematic iPAQ...but the 4705 *still* isn't listed as available in stores - and I've checked in person at two local stores and they don't have them yet. Anyone know when or if Best Buy will be getting them in store?? Other places seem to not have them either...

Best Buy has severely cut back on it's in-store PDA selection and I'm not sure they will ever carry the HX4705. The best you may be able to do is a 3XXX series iPAQ in store.

They also have gone away from replacing non-dead PDA's in store. The last time I was there they shipped my 2215 off to a repair depot, rather than replace it as they used to do under the PSP, so you may not have a lot of luck going down this path.

I used to love Best Buy, their gadgets, and their return policies. However, my opinion is they have become greedy and no longer worship the god that brought them to the top of the electronics biz...great selection and service. The new god they worship is the almighty dollar. I think in the long run it will make it harder for them to meet their financial goals.

I have to agree.. Local Best Buy stores here carry virtually *no* PDA accessories at all. The racks that housed them now are full of MP3 players and phone accessories. I have more of a selection going to Staples.

Yeah I've had issues exchanging my iPod and PDAs the last few times there...but if one store fails to have good service and wants to repair it...I just go to the other local store down the freeway. When I brang my iPod in for the first time...it had a dying battery...they couldn't find the PSP # since it was an online purchase. You'd think they would know how to do it...so I went out to my car, called their 800 #, and a lady told me what to tell them to do. I went back in and they finally figured it out and said they would have to send it in for repair. Why? Because an iPod "can be repaired, unlike PDAs and cell phones which have really tiny hard to service parts." I cried ******** and they just kept saying No, so I took it to the store down the freeway. They found my PSP # right away and said, "Would you like the same one or would you like to upgrade?" :) So I think it kind of depends on the people you are dealing with.

Very, very, VERY true. Same thing happened to me with an old Pocket PC I had. They wanted to send it in, I said no, and I went to another local branch, and they asked me if I wanted to upgrade. It really depends on who the manager is.

I am having same problem. Went to BB yesterday spent over an hour in the store. Here is what they said they will do for me. I have to buy it online and then bring recite and they wil credit my acount back. they said this was a big exception. I said i had to have an ipaq with a CF card. I have a 2215 and i am getting the 4705. I have bought and returned numeros handhelds to BB and the new policy sucks. Where can we go to play with new devices before we decide to buy now? MP3 players must have bigger margins and lots more volume.
