Its too bad, Pocket pcs don't come with Audio-In jacks.
Then you could record directly from tap players and other devices. I can see a tool like this come in real handy in that situation.

Downloaded it and did a reset and it works fine. Only thing is that I wonder where the skin is that they show for landscape? I appears that they don't have skins on their website. I'd rather use that one than the normal one. Version number for this one is 4.0

OOOPS! Went to thier website to download it and they don't have the newest version linked correctly. Needed to download it from handango. Work fine and all of the skins are there.

I'm guessing the MP3 in the screen shot is a napsterized version ;)

Does this mean current users get this new version for free?? :)

I use Sound Explorer to record my lectures...way worth what I paid for!

Tried Resco Audio recorder, my biggest beef is when you stop recording, it takes a while before recording again. Sucks when I want to separate lectures without bookmarks (cause they only work in the software).

Does anyone know if the toshiba e800 series can take a microphone in it's headphone jack? How would one accomplish that?

I installed the fully-functional trial version of SoundExplorer. The sound quality is excellent, and gives me the best results over my bluetooth headset of all sound programs I have. BUT the program freezes my PDA every time I exit the program, requiring a soft reset. Has anyone else had this problem? I have an Asus A716.

I've never seen this before...

How much program memory do you have allocated? In addition to this, do you have any other media programs installed on your Pocket PC?

I have about 10-11 MB of program memory available. In addition to Windows Media Player, I have Pocket Player installed, and a freeware sound recorder called NoteM, though neither has been running when the problem occurs. I had initially thought the problem was with Wisbar Advance, but the freeze occurs even after a reset and before Wisbar has been launched.

Suggestions are welcome.

Okay, you have more than enough memory there so I wouldn't fact a memory shortage as being the cause of the problem. The other programs need not be running to cause conflicts and chaos in your system. There may be conflicts with shared files and/or registry settings that could contribute to the problem. The only thing I can suggest at this stage is for you to uninstall SoundExplorer, and try reinstalling it. If that doesn't work, try uninstalling Pocket Player and NoteM (one at a time - so you can isolate the cause if it's coming from one of those two programs), and reinstalling them again. See how that goes and keep us updated on your progress. :)

I tried your suggestion with the same results. I first uninstalled NoteM, did a soft reset, then reinstalled Vito SoundExplorer. Still froze. Then I uninstalled SoundExplorer and Pocket Player, did a soft reset and reinstalled SoundExplorer. Still crashes when I exit the program.

I hate it when it does that. :P

Well, I'm out of ideas for the moment. If you really want to see what the problem is, and you can afford to do so, you could always hard-reset your device and see if you get the same problems. That way, you'll know if it's specific to your device, or whether there was just some bug causing the whole problem.

Alternatively, try contacting VITO Support, and see if they know of this problem.

Yeah, it also says that you can get an updated activation code if you get a new device, but I emailed them about a new code over 3 days ago and have received no response...

I took your suggestion, did a hard reset and then installed SoundExplorer. The problem disappeared -- no more freezing!! Guess some software caused corruption which led to the lockups. As a result, I have now done a complete new installation of all the applications I like to use; and SoundExplorer now works OK.
