Hi
Having recently moved from Palm to Pocket PC the only thing I've found that I miss is the 'week' and 'list' view options from the Palm's calendar (Datebook) application. It would show you a layout very similar to the Outlook desktop's week view where you could actually see a summary of your appointmenst for the week. The 'list' view let you view all your upcoming appointments in simple list in date order. The Calendar application in the pocket PC in 'week' view just shows coloured blocks where there's appointments. Sure, you can click on the blocks to get details of the appointments, but it's not nearly as user-friendly.
I've searched around the available Calendar add-ons but can't find anything that gives such a good week view, or a list view.
Does anyone know of an add-on for PPC that does this? (For idea of kind of layout I'm talking about, see http://www.palmx.org/detailnews.asp?id=6 or http://www.silcom.com/~njhua/cal/myweek.html (These are Palm apps, but you get the idea!)[/url]

Try out PocketInformant, www.pocketinformant.com. It's a complete replacement for the inbuilt pim and fantastic. And it certainly offers a 7day view as well as a list view.
Hope this helps,

I second that: check out about the latest release at:

Thanks for suggestions. However, having now tried Agenda Fusion and Pocket Informant they are just totally over the top for my needs. I can see how they'be be great progs for some people, but for what I want (just a good 5 or 7 day week view) they are totally over the top and very expensive. I was immediately put off both programs by just how busy and garish their week views are, Way too many icons, symbols, colours etc...! I appreciate you could simplify that but seems to me would need a lot of tweaking to do so.
Anyway, good news is I've fortunately found an app that meets my needs much better, and at a fraction of cost of the market leaders. It's Ulti-Planner by www.birdsoft.biz . At only $9.95 seems a hell of a bargain (also available via Handango, Pocketgear etc).

The 0.9 freeware version of PocketDay (http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=661) has a few nice screens, which give you detailed views of your Calendar. Plus it has very good Contacts and Task screens as well.
Give the 0.9 version a try! Since it's free ... you have nothing to lose. :D

Above photo is the current 2.51 version, which is no longer free.

Tried the 0.9 freeware version of PocketDay as suggested. Followed the instructions to copy the two arm files to my device (incl the .net framework). Appears to then install both progs OK, but when I run PocketDay, after the initial welcome screen, I click continue, it starts loading but just hangs after a couple of seconds. Have tried 3 times (incl doing soft resets afer install) but just cannot get this program to run, so have given up on it. (Am using an iPAQ H4350). :(

Guitareth,
I am wondering if maybe you need to install the latest version of the .NET Compact Framework ?
You can download it from Microsoft's website at this link:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=359ea6da-fc5d-41cc-ac04-7bb50a134556&displaylang=en
.NET Compact Framework is required to run all PPC apps which were coded with the Visual Studio.NET development system.
I am wondering if you already had .NET Compact Framework on your PPC from another application, and then tried to install the version which came packaged with PocketDay which was likely a much earlier version, and possibly ended up with a mixture of old and new .NET CF files ?
I recommend going into your SETTINGS > SYSTEM > REMOVE APPS, and uninstall .NET Compact Framework and PocketDay. Then download the above latest version of .NET CF from Microsoft. Then Soft-Reset your PPC, and then install the latest .NET CF app. And after that Soft-Reset your PPC again. Then install PocketDay.
Then in the future, never install .NET CF which sometimes comes bundled with software. Always use the latest version from the MS website.

Another freeware program which gives you a weekly grid is WIS Agenda (http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=328).
It only uses 50k !!! :D
It isn't anywhere near as good as Pocket Informant, or any of the other commericial apps, but what the heck .... it's free!
Remember to enter the code provided on the PocketPCFreewares description page to register it.

One last app to throw in the bag is ScaryBear's SuperCalendar (http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_sc_overview.html). Sounds like you've already found what you're looking for, though. :)
