My new Dell X50v will be showing up sometime this month and I can't wait to play!!!

Here at FermiLab we use Cisco's VPN client for offsite access. Is there a VPN client for the PPC that I can use to access my stuff offsite with my PPC ?

I've surfed an hour or so and have not found any real info on this.

Thanks!!!

have you tried movianVPN? http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=23668&highlight=cisco+vpn

I don't think they make that any more. From the Certicom site:

Effective October 31, 2004, Certicom is no longer providing movian security applications that can be installed by an end-user onto a device. With the launch of Security Builder® IPSec™, Certicom has migrated movianVPN™ from an end-user application to an embedded security toolkit to capitalize on new opportunities in the embedded virtual private network (VPN) and secured VoIP market. All other products have also been discontinued.

Bummer. We just got an IPSEC router at work. Would have been cool to try.

I saw that too. However, if you don't mind using "unsupported" software, you can always download a copy from here: http://www.handango.com/brainstore/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=311&jid=2C191B57AC18879373195D138CB73648&platformId=2&productType=2&catalog=0&sectionId=0&productId=93967

Woa, not for $75. 8O

Cisco's VPN client is free. I guess I'll just have to do with out or hope Cisco does a PPC version some day...

Thanks for the replies!!!

And if you follow the link for the trial, it puts up a message that it's no longer available. I'd hate to try and get a refund through the Handango customer service channels if I bought it only to find out they really don't have it to sell. (Not that I'd spend $75 for something I'd use sparingly anyway.)

If you visit firstloox.org (http://www.firstloox.org), you can download the product (I think they have permission to host it for a year, or something like that.) You will need to register on their site (much like the PPCT reg) to access the downloads area.

Egads,

There is another company that offers a pocket PC VPN client.

The company is called NCP Secure Communications.

Their website is:
http://www.ncp.de/english/home/index.html

It is distributed and supported in US/Cananda by this company:
http://www.symtrex.com/

In my own research for a VPN client I came upon this company. I never used the product (I found another solution for my sonicwalls at work), but I posted this on Brighthand to someone in your same situation and they were very sucesssful in getting it working.

copernicus,

What product are you using with your SonicWalls?

Victore,

Luckily, I did not have to look too far for a client: Sonicwall's own Global VPN client for the Pocket PC. I have installed it and works very well.

If you use the the Group VPN policy to connect, all you have to do is export the settings and import it into your PDA. Very easy.

Unfortuantely, I also have some custom ones at another site (sonicwall is not the default gateway), so I have to figure out how to create the custom ones since there is no export for those.

I have installed it on my HP 2215 and connected via WIFI and via my bluetooth cellphone using a CSD connection.

copernicus, thanks for the information. while i don't work with sonicwalls anymore, it's nice to know that they make it easier for Windows Mobile devices to connect to them.
