Is anyone aware of a BitTorrent client that works (or will soon work) on Windows Mobile Pocket PC or Smartphone? Is anyone working on one?

I'm pretty sure there isn't one available...yet. This (http://www.simeda.com/pocketster.html) is probably the closest thing you will find to remote file sharing on the Pocket PC at the moment. Give it a few months (year or two perhaps?) and you may start to see BT on the Pocket PC.

I tried out BitTorrent for the first time the other day, and I have to be honest, while the concept is cool, the implementation sucks. I'm a newbie, so someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but in order to find a file you need to first fine a torrent, right? The problem is that without any centralized servers, you can't actually search for a file...so you have to search Google for the torrents (links), but most of the torrents I found were broken or on sites that didn't exist.

So how exactly does one FIND anything with Bit Torrent? :-)

Jason? n00b? Hmmmm.

Google isn't the best of all things for searching Torrents. You usually need to find a dedicated BitTorrent search engine. Now the problem is, a lot of these are filled with legitimate content, as well as your not-so-legitimate content. So I'm not going to be posting links here for obvious reasons.

But if you're wanting to find dedicated BT search engines, I suppose you can always Google "BitTorrent search engine". Be wary of the Torrents you find though, because there are a lot of illegal links out there.

If you're looking for a good BitTorrent client, I suggest Azureus. (http://azureus.sourceforge.net)

Suprnova.org (http://www.suprnova.org) is a site that has a lot torrents. I use it to download television shows.

There are sites with collection of torrets and you can always go on the torret channel in IRC for tons of them.

I find download speeds to typically suck. I once wanted a show that was 400 megs. Took me days to finally get it (on cable modem). Sometimes there are next to no hosts out there.

Generally speaking, the more seeders (sharers) there are, the faster the download is. For example, I hopped on suprnova.org about a week ago to get Jon Stewart's appearance on CrossFire. The file was ~140 megs, but I managed to get the whole thing in about 20 minutes over my DSL connection, since there were over 100 people seeding it. A file that's only being seeded by a handful of people will typically take several days.

Yea,

I seem to try and get things with almost no seeders. Now and then something pops in easy. Mainly real popular shows are seeded well. Still, beats not having it at all.

Some new, promising news and a working (?) client: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?p=486821

Please report to me if it isn't working (I haven't had the time to test it) and I also dive into fixing the bugs that prevent it from working.
