Does anyone have any information on when the MPX or the MPX300 as it is being tagged in some articles, is set to be released?

I can't wait either, I think. All depends on screen quality (ability to read excel spreadshetts is important to me), phone quality (a must, that' sthe whole point of converging to one device) processor speed, and camera. Ability to fit in my pocket is also a must. Anyone have any specs on this yet? If not, I can't imagine it's very close to release.

240 x 320 screen, 400 MHz processor, 32 to 64 MB of memory. Camera is supposed to be 1.2 megapixels but don't expect too much from it, some very cheap 1.2 MP cameras have been going around lately. Expected carrier is Cingular. Sorry, no Verizon version.

The release date is a little clouded, but from what I've heard, it's either (1) end of November 2004, or (2) start of 2005.

I'd be hedging more toward option #2. :D

I have the chance to buy the MPX300 for $1,400, what you think about the price???, included 2 bluetooth handset.

This is the owner's information:
====================================
HS810 Blue Tooth Headset Are you blue toothing!?
HS820 Blue Tooth Headset

This is a like-new MPX-300 - I used it for two weeks during a testing phase for Cingular Wireless in my area - However I am contracted with Sprint PCS, and am rather happy with my PCS Service and phone. They don't provide GSM Service as yet, so I have no need to keep the MPX-300. Why wait until February when you can have this phone today!

thanks for your help.

Well, I'm a little late in answering this, just noticed this, but........

Why wait? Every reason in the world to wait. Anyone who purchased the above would have to be an idiot!

1) The price is absurd--$1400! No phone or PPC costs that much! You could get a good laptop for that price. I'm sure when the device is actually release, it will not cost anywhere near that much.

2) The phone has not been released yet! There must be a reason for that. If it was ready to be released, I'm sure it would have been, as people have been waiting for it for awhile. Especially they would try to get it out for Xmas sales. One can only conclude that they are still working out problems with it. (Sometimes devices are released too early, before bugs have been worked out, as occurred recently with the MPX220. They are never released too late.)

The seller is obviously a blatant liar. He says he bought the phone while testing Cingular Wireless, then decided to keep his Sprint service, on which he could not use this phone. The statement is obviously pure concoction. For one thing, if one starts a new service with a new phone as part of the offer, and decides within the 14 day trial period not to keep the service, one can also return the phone for a refund. Secondly, Cingular does not offer this phone, nor does any other carrier, in the US, nor anywhere in the world. THE MPX HAS NOT BEEN RELEASED ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!

If the seller actually has an MPX (MPX300), it is a prototype model, one that was available for testing, to show at trade shows, for reviewers to look at, etc. That isn't supposed to be sold. It could be quite different from how the final model is. It could have a lot of problems, and would not be covered by any warranty. You spend $1400 for a piece of junk that stops working, and you have absolutely no recourse.

On the other hand, the seller might not have anything of the sort. You send him money, and get nothing in return! This kind of thing happens with Internet sales, including on Ebay.

So Roberto, if you are still reading this, I would suggest that you tell that seller to go F*** himself! It's really a shame, how some people try to scam and swindle other human beings!

Anyone who would like an MPX, you just have to wait until it is actually released. Even then, best not to be the first to buy it, eager as some of us are. The first ones could quite possibly still have bugs. Let others try it first, and read their reviews! (Perhaps I shouldn't have advised that, as we need such "early adopters" to try devices first!)

Especially with a very different new kind of device like that, I would certainly want to read reviews by people who have thoroughly tested the actual released product, before buying one. The price often goes down after about a month after release.

Has Motorola officialy announced that month now, rather than "First Quarter 2005", or something like that?

Any news on which carriers will have it? (I hope T-Mobile!!!)

Have they actually changed the name back to MPX300, the original name, later changed to simply MPX? (I never understood the reason for the latter--since they have MPX200 and MPX220, why call a more advanced one simply MPX?))

I just checked the Motorola web site, a search of MPX300 brought no results, while a search for MPX brought up several articles and press releases, although I didn't see any that gave a date as specific as February 2005.
