Hi Friends,

I have a iPAQ 3635 with PPC 2002. I am in the midst of my graduate college preparation and application season and really need to get out my PDA from the closet and use it for this busy period.

My needs over the need 2-3 months will be:

-Stopwatch (I know people suggested stop time and spb time). I need this to keep track of my exam prep timings

-Calendar (Very important). I need to keep track of my appointments in my other life, i.e. personal, and professional. I also need to keep track of the various college application deadlines.

-To do List. Once again very important, as I will have several to do's for numerous categories, e.g applications, personal, business.

-Pocket Excel?

-Contacts (i.e. addresses, phone numbers, emails)

The calendar and to do list are very important, as I would like them to be user friendly, and possibly have features such as alarms, reminders, and should be easy to read and follow. I have installed the latest version of Active Sync.

I am currently using a PC running Office 2003, and use Outlook 2003 and yahoo/hotmail for most of my emails. Unfortunately, my PDA cannot access the internet. Furthermore, I also have a iPod in case there is any compatibility between my PDA and the iPOD.

I know these programs are relatively quick suggestions, thus I hope you can put yourselves in my place, i.e. of a working professional, preparing to return to college and gearing up for the enterance exam and all the other college application formalities over the next 2 months.

I look forward to your thoughts.

Thanks
RJ

You may be interested in PocketClock. Since this is all categorised in PIM, you'd be looking at an all-in-one PIM interface. I'm assuming you're not satisfied with the default PIM interface provided by the OS, so two popular choices are Agenda Fusion (http://www.developerone.com/) and Pocket Informant. (http://www.webis.net) Give those a go. :)

-Pocket Excel?

I'm a little confused by this. The Pocket PC 2002 OS already has Pocket Excel in it, but if you're after a more advanced solution, there's an application called PlanMaker. What were you planning to do with your PDA and iPOD?

DJ offered some good suggestions... the only thing I can add... is that I you might want to have a look at SpreadCE as a Pocke Excel replacement. Planmaker is by far that best Excel replacement available, however it is extremely sluggish to use.

For countdown timers there are many that you can choose from... many of which are free.

Hi,

Thanks for your replies.

I cannot seem to locate Pocket Excel on my PDA, regardless, I will continue to look or get an alternative.

Which is a more user friendly PIM to use...Agenda Fusion or Pocket Informant?

Do you know of any GMAT prep software/tools that I can put on my PDA?.. :)

As for PDA<->iPOD, I am not sure if there is any compatibility between these two, if there is, I would be keen on knowing what can be done between the PDA and the iPOD!.

Thanks for your help.
Regards,

RJ

If should be in the Programs menu. If you can afford to give your PPC a hard reset, it will revert it back to its default factory setting. I'm sure from then on, you will be able to find Excel.

This is a very subjective question. Some people prefer AF, while some prefer PI. You really have to give the trail version of each one a go before you know what it's like. Both are very user-friendly IMO. If you search around the forums, you will find a lot of good comments given to both of these applications.

Have a look at this one. (http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?productType=2&optionId=1_2_2&jid=9X68469876D3CFBBA8BB17AE87676937&platformId=2&siteId=1&productId=29067&sectionId=0&catalog=30&txtSearch=gmat)

You may be interested in a program called Pocketster Pro (http://www.simeda.com/pocketster.html) that includes an iPod module (http://www.simeda.com/pocketster-ipod.html) that allows you to turn your iPod into a wireless jukebox. The only downside is the fact that it requires WM2003 or better, and there are some legality issues involved concerning wireless broadcasting. So be sure to check the implications of this before you go ahead with this.
