Wow, did a search for this topic and got thousands of results 8O .

What do you folks think?

I have been eyeing those new PMP/PVP but keep coming back to the idea that a PPC is a better choice. The PPC has way more functionality than a dedicated video player and with pocketdivixencoder and some other freewares ;) converting video is a breeze. In fact that is what I use my 4355 for the most, watching video on the go. So what I am wondering is which PPC currently available is best for video - resolution, quality, battery life?

Does anyone have any experience with video on the newer models.
I checked out the betaplayer benchmarks and it looks like the 4700 beats them all, however I can't quite decipher the results of the x50v.

Is it worthwhile to dump my 4355 for one of the newer models.

Based on video performance alone do the newer faster models justify the additional cost?

Bear in mind that the newer devices support VGA, so if you prefer to have crystal-clear full-screen support, your video would also need to be encoded for the 640x480 resolution, which ultimately, leads to a larger file size, which requires more memory for storage.

My recommendation would be: if you feel as though your current device does it well, I'd stay with that. You can easily save that money and wait until a justifiable upgrade in Pocket PCs arrives before you spend that kind of money. Within the next year, you will see more Pocket PCs enter the market with excellent specs and the new WM2005 OS. If you can wait until then, I would. However, it really is up to personal choice at the end of the day.
