Hello,

I downloaded a freeware software: ActiveSync Toggle - v1.0.2.0
which allows you to turn the automatic ActiveSync feature off or on. This way, when you put your PPC into the cradle, but don't want ActiveSync to come on every time, you can disable it.

Well, as soon as I loaded this software, my ActiveSync 'disabled', and would not 'enable' again, even when I specified on the Toggle program for it to do so.

I have now removed the ActiveSync Toggle - v1.0.2.0 program from my computer and when the PPC still would not function I removed Microsoft ActiveSync and re-loaded it from Microsoft.com. ActiveSync still does not recognize that my PPC device is plugged in, but the Com port is shown as "Available".

I checked my Com port to make sure all settings were the same as on my PPC, and re booted my computer to see if the new hardware would be detected automatically. I've re booted the computer once with my PPC cradle unplugged from the com port and once with it plugged in again to get auto detect to work, but it doesn't.

I don't know what else to do now. Is there any way to revert back to my computers settings 2 days ago (before I loaded this lousy program)?

Any help appreciated!

Craig

Go to Activesync on your desktop and go to TOOLS>OPTIONS>SCHEDULE to make sure that the Desktop Schedule is set correctly.

As far as doing a restore is concerned, WinXP does have a System Restore feature, but I think that only refers to system settings and not those for individual applications.

The problem is that my ActiveSync box has the message "No Partnerships" and "Not Connected" on it.

Under 'Tools', everything is in the background (not active), so I can't click on any buttons!

The "Get Connected" dialogue box automatically comes up when I click on ActiveSync, but when I click "Next", it can't detect my device (PPC) on any of the Com ports, including the one it is connected to.

Note: I've tried switching it over to the other, of two Com ports, and it still can't detect it.

Everything is dead in the water!?

Thanks for the suggestion though. I'm definitely open to more!

I haven't used this particular program, but it might be worth checking to see if something on the PPC ActiveSync client was reset as well.

Well, just a few minutes ago with the help of RiPpeR from this message board, we got it working! I'm not sure what happened.

I was clicking on File\Connection Settings within the ActiveSync dialogue box when the program just froze up. It still said "no partnerships" and "not connected" when it froze.

After about a minute when I was about to Ctl Alt Del and end the program, it unfroze and started looking for my PPC. When I heard my PPC make it's 'Sync Beep' signal, I had to pinch myself. Activesync then walked me through the dialogue box for setting up the relationship with the PPC and I basically had to set the program up again. Once I was finished, it sync'd for about 10 minutes as it updated everything.

Very strange! It hasn't worked at all since yesterday and all of a sudden after freezing up for a minute it finds my ppc on com port 1.

I have no explanation, but all is well now. Thanks for the ideas!
