The prices are comparitively higher than the US prices when you take into account of the Canadian - US dollar :|

Dell has to improve their web site - it's not what it should be, considering it's the world's largest PC manufacturer. For example, when you hit product details for some of their cases, you get an error. You can't even view a picture of the Bluetooth keyboard... I've ordered from Dell 2 times in the past and was very satisfied, but their site was and is filled with errors.

I've ordered mine a couple days ago. Checked yesterday on the status of my X50v and it's in Pre-production (whatever that means). Hopefully it won't be too long.

Edit: Oh by the way I'm in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Yes, I would love an update as well. Especially battery life which seems to be the achilles heel of this device. Thanks.

It looks amazing, the screen is awesome, performance seems good. Screen re-draws seem a touch slow, not sure why, and it can't play 1300 kbps WMV like I was told it could. I haven't gotten to any battery tests yet, but will do so soon.

AFAIK the screen redraws being "slow" is universal to VGA devices. The problem with WMV... Well, on some reviews I've read of the device they basically said that WMP is really slow in comparison to PocketTV or Betaplayer. You may wish to run your tests with a variety of different player programs.

I'm interested to hear if the developers of these media programs have any plans to support the new graphics chip.

Thanks Jason.

Aximsite just posted some additional info about battery life. Looks like the battery may not be too bad under "normal" conditions after all.

Yeah, Cowgarians and other Albertan$ should have to pay extra.

But on the other hand, Ralph Klein is the most amusing politician out there.

PS I live in Guelph, Ontario home of 8% sales tax, hence my complaint about the high cost for Canada.

It works out to a $1.38 Canadian per $1 US. Last time I looked, the exchange was closer to $1.20 Canadian per $1 US.

Grumble, Grumble. :bad-words:

And while you're at Dell.ca don't forget to pickup that 1GB SD card for $600+

Noticed that the $25 shipping cost is deleted now for a limited time.

Still doesn't make up for the high exchange rate.

Yeah I live in Ottawa. Paying 15% Sales Tax sucks :( I definetly want to move to alberta in the future.

What isn't comparable is the Compact Flash card that they sell with the Dell Axim X50. The american website has it for about $92.00 but the canadian has it for $350.00. There is no way the american dollar is woth 350% more then the canadian.

Well, if you go off the history of either developer (for BetaPlayer & PocketTV), I wouldn't expect anything less than future optimizations for the Intel graphics chip, especially considering this device will likely be HP's main competitor here in the US.

Of course we don't know yet how difficult or how easy such optimizations will be to either development team. That's the only thing that I think would hold them back (aside from actually having the Dell device in-hand to test with).

The Canadian Prices are insane, just look at the price of just an extra sync cable $62 , where it's only $15 US . I was about to buy the x50v but when I saw how much dell.ca is gouging , I ordered an hx4700 for $80 Cdn more.
