a couple of days ago, while i was surfing to find some "cool" information, i read this in one of developer articles from Microsoft

With the 2003 platform, the default time delay that can affect loading and unloading some drivers in response to a suspend/resume event was decreased. This time delay may have an effect on applications that expect file handles associated with SD cards to be preserved during a short suspend/resume event. If you have problems migrating to Windows Mobile 2003 with applications that expect files to remain open on SD cards between suspend/resume events, you should try increasing the following registry value to 4096 if it is currently lower:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager

PNPUnloadDelay : 4096

this explains the problems some of us has experienced with the so common subject "problems installing applications on storage card"
although this wont solve every problem related to the subject, this may work for some.
