Ok, we already have the 'guess the movie quote' thread. How about a 'guess the title' thread ? It is friday morning (on GMT+7), and it is extremely boring down here, so let me start with an easy one :

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then I am still, and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

What is the song title and who is the singer that made it popular in the first place ? :)

You Raise Me Up by Josh Groban. I cheated though, looked up the lyrics. I just wanted to pose my question. What song is this from?

The silver swan, who living had no note,
When death approached unlocked her silent throat;
Leaning her breast against the reedy shore,
Thus sung her first and last, and sung no more:
Farewell, all joys;
O death, come close mine eyes;
More geese than swans now live,
More fools than wise.

I actually Googled it last night but didn't post a response to make it fair for the others. ^_^

I guess Google just defeats the purpose of things. :P

Yeah .. google is such a killjoy :(

Here is another one :

Somewhere in time I know,
Darling you'll come back to me.
Roses will bloom again,
But Spring feels like eternity.
In your kiss it wasn't goodbye.
You are still the reason why.

Any Sarah Brightman fans in this forum ? :wink:

OK, anyone remember this song:

The time had come in '68
To elect a president,
And all the famous candidates
Thought they were heaven-sent.

They screamed and raved and bounded,
Their hands upon their hearts,
But soon the noble promises
Were hard to tell apart.

Hmm... no takers from my last post. Well, how about this one:

Spring is here! Spring is here!
Life is skittles and life is beer.
I think the loveliest time of the year
Is the spring, I do! Don't You! Of course you do!

But there's one thing that makes spring complete for me,
And makes every Sunday a treat for me!

All the world is in tune on a spring afternoon,
When we're....

Poisoning Pigeons In The Park ... by, er ... Tom Lehmer/Lehner ?
A neighbor of mine back in Austin used to sing that song when spreading bread crumbs for the pigeon on our apartment's parking lot. :)

That is a really really old song, right ?

Right!! Tom Lehrer recorded that song in 1959!

I used to watch these neighbour of mine every day, before I went to university. He was such a clockwork. Started feeding the pigeon at 5 AM everyday .. singing the same song over and over again, while his wife prepared breakfast. Bacon and egg, every morning ... :)

Now, how about this one ?

If you never say goodbye
To the best thing in your life
There are things you don't appreciate at all

So it's best that you don't try
Holding back the time
Are you ever gonna be quite satisfied ...

"Snoopy for President," by the Royal Guardsmen, the group that also did "Snoopy vs. the Red Baron" and 3 other "Snoopy" songs.

"Hooray for New Math... new math.
It won't do you a bit of good to review math
its so simple, so very simple, that only a child can do it..."

Figured i'd quote the Tom Lehrer post to give a hint on this one.
