As far as upgrades are concerned - I wouldn't recommend counting on an upgrade from anyone. ALL the big names have not provided this at one point or another. In fact, there are huge discussions in forums about this. People assume that because they have a device that is upgradeable that an upgrade should be provided. None of the companies ever stated they would do this. If they do, you've scored. Otherwise you live with what you bought in the first place. SO do you think we'll all get ROM updates for WMP 10? Not likely...

Most of the big companies, Dell, HP, Tosh, etc have all had their share of support horror stories from consumers. I've owned HP stuff for years and could tell you good and bad about their support. I've owned two Dell computers and could tell you good and bad stories. Personally, I've had better support from HP. I think it often depends on the individual that answers your call. I've had tech support that runs the gamut from obvious ignorance to superlative knowledge.

I rely on forums like this to resolve issues with Pocket PCs. The wealth of knowledge and experience here and other places is amazing. I call HP when something's really broken and I need a new unit.

From a software POV, the smaller one team companies seem to be excellent in their support. Examples are PocketInformant (www.pocketinformant) and PocketBreeze (www.sbsh.net). Each of these have forums that the developers partake in regularly. There are many others also.

And all have as well. Don't expect it and you can only be right or pleasantly surprised.
