View Full Version : Happy 4th Birthday to Pocket PC Thoughts
Jason Dunn
10-13-2004, 10:45 PM
Yesterday was our fourth birthday (we launched October 12th, 2000) and in the chaos of server failures and the big Dell Axim X50 launch, I didn't have time to do up a proper birthday post. Today has been equally hectic, so it's a wash as well - but tomorrow, I have a special surprise for everyone, along with a special contest that everyone will love. Stay tuned!

Although, perhaps "Happy Anniversary" might be more appropriate, PocketPC Thoughts has kept my PPC hope and dreams alive all these years and "TA DAH" now we have these wonderful VGA devices. And I'm sure it's all because of you, Jason. /End, shameless suck-up mode.
Have a slice o' cake on me!!!! :way to go:

I've only been a part of PPCT for about year and I can't get enough of it...it's my favorite website by far! I hope it's around for many more birthdays!
And I hope something big is in the works for the 5th anniversary...a video tribute perhaps? 8)

Four years! Wow, that's great!
I was going to use the Happy Birthday 'con too, but it seems sorely un-original now. I guess I'll have to fall back on my fave.

Happy freaking birthday!! You know, I've never subscribed to any website in my life.. until this one. There's something about the community and everything else here that just makes it worth while. Also, I have a pretty nice server and space for hosting anything you could think of. If you want to post any videos of your "surprise" tomorrow (heheh ) and are worried about bandwidth, I'll gladly host them for this wonderful community. Think of it as a birthday present / contribution to everything you guys have given me.

Congratulations and Happy Birthday to PPCThoughts. This was the first PPC site I ever visited and it continues to be a staple of my daily web browsing. This is truly a great team of folks that contribute so much to the community. Happy 4th and here's to many more great years!

Thanks for the link, Steve. I remember that first layout. I was interested in the Jornada, so I liked the logo! One interesting note from Jason's first post:
I'm also not going to go back and edit things I've written, so if I was wrong about something, it will stay there forever (emphasis mine). 'aint technology grand?
Unfortunately, server crashes haven't quite enabled all of that to happen. Jason is still using the same taxonomy, which adds some nice continuity...crashes, redesigns and all.

Hey cheer up - You never know. We might have already hit empty or passed that 'game over' point and we're just running on borrowed time. I've been smelling fumes for years now but until the fat lady sings I'll enjoy birthdays - especially other peoples.
Jeff- :bday: :D
Congrats all - this is one of the few sites on the web that I visit several times a day; and I've the blast email and RSS feeds coming in as well.
Great job all round.

I have looked over many websites for information about Pocket PCs (hardware, software and usage) and PocketPCThoughts is the best there is!
No one else is as timely, and as broad-based. New postings seem to happen more frequently, with good links and plenty of ideas and comments from member posts. I look to PPCthoughts almost daily.
Congratualtions! Keep up the great work! :D

I wouldn't feel like part of the family if I ddidn't get my 2 cents in today. Someone already mentioned about going through withdrawal when they don't connect with PPCT in a day. Ditto for me.
This place is a great place to call home.
Thanks, Jason, and crew.

Happy birthday !!!
Only site owners can imagine how much work it involves to keep such a quality site on the air for 4 years. You have done it, and deserve a big cheer for that.
I wish all the best to the site and the team, may you continue being the dynamic, lifefull site that we have seen over the years.
Many happy returns !
