I've received mixed messages from AT&T about their mMode $24.95 unlimited plan. So far I have had 2 Customer Service Rep and 1 retail rep that using a PDA "tethered" to the phone with service fine, possible not preferred. But 1 Customer service rep that it is not allowed and trackable. Now I know that that is a 3 to 1 majority, but at $.01/kb I'm note sure that is a decision I would want to take with out some out side information. Would it be possible to get some enlightenment in this area? My real concern is that I've been contemplating getting a PPC Phone and it sounds like that would also fall out side this $24.95 plan. I can completely understand if no one would want to comment. Thank you for help.

don't believe the rep that told you it's not allowed.

i was told by a sprint rep that there is no such cable/software solution to connect my samsung phone to a pc. i was told that there is a sync cable to allow syncing the address book but that it wouldn't work for anything else.

i called and spoke to another rep and was told that it WOULD work with that cable, but that they don't sell the software to people anymore because they want people to buy the pcmcia cards for that (doesn't matter that i was talking about a desktop, i would have to find a workaround).

checked radio shack, they had not only the cable but the software (snapsync). after installing the cable and software, i was able to get online with my desktop and cellphone at just about twice dialup speeds (i was pretty impressed).

shortly after formatting my computer, i realized i didn't even NEED the software, winxp detects the phone as a modem, and a DUN connection worked great. the only thing the special software did was tell a DUN to dial #68 instead of a phone number or some such nonsense.

after i got all of this to work, i called sprint back to see if there would be any consequences, and the rep told me that what i was doing would work for about a month, and then they would disconnect my service.

i used this configuration as my PRIMARY internet access at home (downloading close to a gig a day on some days) for 9 MONTHS before i finally got sick of the fact that the phone only worked in rooms with a window and switched to at&t/bought an mpx200.

So are you using AT&T mMode umlimited with the mpx200?
