It's not just a pretty face, though - there are quite a few innovative features as well. :mrgreen: Duly noted. It's hard to NOT be excited when you encounter the following situation for the first time though:

Connect PPC to BT phone for GPRS connection.
Connect BT GPS unit to PPC.
Fire up GPS Tuner.
Bring up local calibrated map.
Connect to TerraServer Topo map.
Zoom WAAAY in.
Switch to 3d mode.
Drive/walk around and watch map move in real time.
Switch to aerial photography maps just for kicks.
Switch back.

Seriously, this is a really cool application that seems like it was made for geocaching. It's a bit "crashy" at the moment, but if the developer can work out the kinks, this thing has great potential.

I'd hate to say this..but i recently tried a prior version of this software and all i can say is..it has issues! :evil:

It's buggy, it locks up, randomnly crashes and has a problem connecting to bluetooth gps receivers or serial port devices. I have a belkin bluetooth module. Which has never given me any problems with any other software or device. The user interface is clunky and confusing. I tried it on 2 seperate PPC devices..same issues!

Hopefully they have fixed the bugs in this version.

Most of these small developer apps for ppc are buggy unless you have the developers exact setup. It's all standards based but is one NEMA GPS exactly the same as another? Hard to work out all the variables.

But what I would like is to be able to load the Geocaching download file have all the points come up on the map, then with a touch of the way point be able to read recient cache history. I know you can do this with two programs, but is a hassel switching back and forth.

Back when I did my first Geocaching over a year ago I searched GPS on Handango and found this, I think it had been released that day or a few dyas before (according to the date on the Handango page), it was version 1.0 and it was still awesome! This program is one of my favorite GPS apps (especially for Geocaching, Mapopolis is of course my favorite for car navigation). Glad to see it's finally getting some recongition. :D

This package, at first glance, looks like an easy winner over Microsoft's similar offering. A nice detailed interface easily beats Pocket Streets' somewhat simplistic and outdated one. The only thing is GPS Tuner's Map Share webpage seems to have very few maps for download.

I'm trying to figure out the boundaries of our property so I can put in a fence. It's been surveyed but not marked well. This software may be what I need to mark it myself.

This app looks very cool with lots of potential, but the first thing I tried with it was to load in an image from terraserver and I get an error "System.OverflowException:OverflowException". It connects to my Socket Bluetooth GPS just fine.
