I switched from Sprint to Cingular a couple months ago and was using the GPRS service with no trouble, via unlimited Internet Express ($20/mo). After not using it for a couple weeks, I tried this past weekend and kept getting bad uid/password errors. Nine calls to customer service (for a total of almost two hours on the phone) were required to fix the problem.
The upshot is that Cingular now says that its GPRS service is available for use only with the handset, and not for use with other devices via BT or cable UNLESS you have a 5MB/mo data account for another $20. The only way I got my service switched back on was to begin the process of closing my account, at which point they switched it back on "temporarily."
Has anyone else had this kind of trouble with Cingular? This is almost as bad as the SPCS/Verizon policies on data use. BTW, they also told me that they don't support data calls over a BT connection. HUH? :frusty:
Just curious: Are non-U.S. carriers this bad at customer service?
