I always thought that SD cards are ideal for information storage. Now I found that SD cards can serve as remotes, radios and even TV tuners. In my personal viewpoint, the universal remote on an SD card is the most interesting variant.

Any ideas?

Interesting. I had never really thought of that, but are there any SDIO or CF devices that act as CIR remotes?

There is an interesting new SD card that contains a remote control solution. www.novii.tv/blaster It could be ideal for palmOne handhelds owners and is not suitable at all for Pocket PC owners.

In my opinion, the SD card used not only for information storage purpose is interesting and unexpected solution. Take that tuner, for example. I don't remember the company, that released it, but that thing makes a device more sophisticated.

You don't need an SD card to use your PDA as a remote control.. most PDA's have a built in IR port that can be used to read and send IR remote control signals..

But still you use some software to turn your PDA into a remote. Besides, some PDAs have very weak IR signals, not enough for users. There exists different software at the market for different purpose. Nevo and Total Remote, e.g. , serve for turning PPC into universal remotes (& have a huge number of bugs!). NoviiRemote Blaster and Novii Remote are for palmOne handhelds.

I was gonna go for a Pronto, but had a Zire 72 lying around. That would be cheaper to buy an SD card remote than to spend a huge amount of money on some TSU 3000 and lots of time on programming it...
What about an SD card as a tuner? Who producers such a device?

Check this out! It's a remote that plugs into your headphone slot! Works much better than FIR. Cheaper than SD.

I have an iPaq 2215 with CIR and its terrific with the NEVO software. Ican control devices 30 feet away.

Uhmmm, ... and what's of it? Have you got anything on an SD card? Douglas wrote:

This means that not universal remotes but SD cards are discussed. IMHO

Have you met anything on an SD card? For instance, radio, universal remote, TV-tuner?

I am using a HP IPAQ h4150 pocket pc with windows mobile 2003.

You mention to me that there is also a SD Card that can also be a FM receiver and a TV tuner card. Is there really these products in the market?

If so, i would like to take a close look at it, since i am interested in them.
It is fun to listen to the FM radio on the move!

Thanks!

Did you see the Griffin doohickey? It plugs into your headphone jack. You can have a universal remote with it.
