<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.roboform.com/' target='_blank'>http://www.roboform.com/</a><br /><br /></div>A company called Siber Systems has just announced a new Pocket PC application, called <a href="http://www.roboform.com/">RoboForm</a>, aimed at helping people keep their passwords and files safe.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/adrian/robot.jpg" /><br /><br /><i>"RoboForm for Pocket PC <span>and Palm</span> lets people carry a 3DES-encrypted copy of their passwords, contacts and notes on PDAs, then use that copy to synchronize their passwords, contacts and notes with other computers that have RoboForm installed. <span>RoboForm for Palm</span> and RoboForm for Pocket PC are small device "siblings" of RoboForm, a Windows desktop-based password manager and form filler that automates logging in to online accounts and filling of online registration and shopping checkout forms. </i><br /><br />The thing that makes this password storage tool a little different is its integration with a desktop tool for pre-filling online forms. I have recently really shyed away from anything that can even remotely LOOK like it might install spyware or adware, but the RoboForm Web site claims this application does neither. There is one additional comment from the press release that the Pocket PC bigot in me latched upon:<br /><br /><i>"Synchronization between the Palm and desktop PC requires just one click, while synchronization between Pocket PC and desktop is completely automatic and requires no clicks at all."</i><br /><br />Say what you will about Activesync, at least it doesn't require me to manually initiate synchronization; I can literally grab my Pocket PC and go!<br /><br />You can download a free 30-day demo or buy the full version of RoboForm for $9.99 from the RoboForm site. If you want the desktop integration, you'll need a license <a href="http://www.siber.com/php/pums/rfprepay.php?lang=en">for that version, too</a>, which costs an additional $29.99. The site does mention a free version of the desktop application, but it's really just a crippled version that limits the user to only 10 password "cards." (I don't know about you, but at last count I had over 100 passwords in my e-wallet!)

Just my 2 cents here. I love roboform. I've been using on my desktop pc for some time. I used to use Gator, but switched over to Roboform when I was educated on ad/spyware. The PPC app is great too. While it would be nice if it had the integration with Pocket ie that the destop version has with ie (automatically filling in forms, etc), you can bring up and view all of or usernames and passwords for any site that you have them saved for as well as the ewallet type info (credit cards, etc).

I particularly like the integration with the desktop version. Before the PPC version of the app came out, there have been a couple of times when I couldn't log onto a website on my PPC because I couldn't remember the username/password combo for that site. On my desktop, roboform will fill it in for me automatically. Now when that happens on my PPC or on another computer, I can open up the PPC roboform and view all my data.

By the way, the sycronization with PPC happens just by putting your roboform data folder in your PPC files sycronization folder. I prefer to keep as much stuff as I can out of RAM and onto my memory cards, so I manually copy the roboform data to a folder on a memory card. The only drawback is I need to remember to recopy data over to my memory card when I make changes in the desktop to keep the info up to date.

I must agree with Juttonn,

I use roboform on my laptop and find it VERY helpful. The only issue is that I feel like a dummy sometimes when I want to login somewhere from a another computer and cannot remember my user name and password!

I am going to download the ppc version right now.

Thanks

I, too, am a longtime Roboform user, having also come from Gator (the reason so many Gator users end up with Roboform is that Roboform migrates Gator data!)

For people wanting a "portable" version of Roboform, the data can be placed on a USB flash drive. The only downside of this is that you still have to install Roboform on the machine accessing the flash.

Another long time and extremely happy user. This is one of the first things I install on my systems when I rebuild them. I have over 100 logins saved for all sorts of sites and Roboform works great on all of them. I also save important personal information as well as secure notes of all types. Overall a great desktop app and I am glad I get to take this important info with me on the Pocket PC when I am away from my laptop. I also use CodeWallet and Roboform isn't a replacement but it might grow into one.

Overall I highly recommend the desktop version and the associated PocketPC version. If you don't use the desktop version of Roboform, I don't know that I would recommend the PocketPC version.

Haha... Love it when you make "RoboForm for Palm" or "Palm" fonts so small that I had to squint so hard to read it
