question about microdrives

Do the new ones (5gb seagate and 4gb hitachi) suck up as much battery power as the old microdrives? I remember that thce battery life of my PPC when using one of those old drives was really horrible.
And what about speed? How do they compare to their solid state counterparts?
One last thing- Are they really as fragile as everyone seems to make them out to be>?

I haven't seen the Seagate drive yet but I've had an Hitachi 4gb microdrive for the last six months. While I have no doubt that it draws more power than the 1gb flash card it replaced, I don't see a noticeable drop off in operation time on my PPC. Power use and management is much better than on the last generation models.

However, if you are using a PPC that currently has short legs I wouldn't recommend a microdrive. Just to be safe.
