Hi Everyone,

I'm really new (and kind of slow  ) when it comes to the wireless side of the PPC's.

I was just wondering what my options would be do have internet connection on my pocket pc no matter where I go. I have a HP2210 and I would like the ability to browse the web and recieve my emails anytime.

Is this a possibility or am I chasing a false hope?

The option with the largest coverage area would probably be to connect by using a mobile phone as a modem. Since the 2215 has Bluetooth, you can use a Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone as a modem and connect anywhere your mobile phone has coverage.

I do that with my 2215 using a Sony Ericsson T610 and T-Mobile service.

That's great!

That solves two problems actually. I've been looking to get a new cell phone anyhow! Now I just have to find a bluetooth phone from my provider.

Thanks for the help!

Well apparently my provider doesn't support any Bluetooth phones, nor do they plan to.

So I guess I'm open to other suggestions now...

BT is just convenient, it is not the only way to connect a PPC to a phone. Gomadic and SupplyNet sell cables for many combinations that hook between the devices. Who's your carrier of choice BTW? If it's Verizon they haven't had a BT phone but I thought I saw they were introducing one.

Do wireless service providers have to first allow you to use your phone as a modem or do they have no way to control you or charge extra?

Actually verizon does have a BT phone now, its the motorola v710. I have it and love it. It was released on the 11th of September.

It depends on the provider how they offer their data plans, but yes they keep track of your data usage. I know that AT&T Wireless and I think T-Mobile and Cingular have "unlimited" plans. I myself have AT&T and love it.
