View Full Version : Thinking of upgrading

Hi there

I've got an old Ipaq 1910, and whilst it does most of the stuff I need (I'm not really a power user), there's a few things I'd like to upgrade to:

-It's only got 41MB available for use, this is a bit tiny! I'd like to be able to use Textmaker, and can't actually fit it on at the moment.
- And coming off that point, I can't actually find a remotely pleasant foldup keyboard for it. I don't think there is one.

I notice the 1910's are selling for about £80 on Ebay. I wouldn't really expect to be spending more than £150 on something second hand, with the above features, and, oh, as tiny as possible!

Any ideas about some old machines that fit the grade?

TIA

A bit over your budget, but this is a great buy

Thanks, that looks really good actually. If a bit big maybe.

I've being trying to find out more information about it. Do you know how much of the 96MB are actually accessible? For example, my 1910 claims to have 64MB, but only 41MB are accessible.

Yeah - you get 64 Mb for applications and local storage ... and a separate non-volatile 32Mb for more storage and/or applications ... so 96 Mb total is available. The non-volatile storage is protected from erasure even if you have to hard-reset the device.

It also has two expension slots ... one SD and one CF. And the option via either an expansion attachment or a cable to add USB support. The expension pack also enables you to connect your PDA to a standard monitor :-) These give the E750 tremendous expansion options, for instance you could connect an external USB hard drive, a USB keyboard and connect to a monitor to have a complete laptop replacement. OK is still does not run Windows XP and all your familiar desktop applications, but you can run PowerPoint at 800x600 :-)

Also at least part of the size of the device is caused by the larger than normal 4 inch screen. It is not a huge difference, but it does make a noticable different when browsingg web pages with small text, for instance.

HTH
