About MDA III and where to buy.

I am stuck and dont know which one to get. The MDA III or ipaq 6315. I am hearing alot of negative things about the ipaq 6315 but at the same time i hear alot of positive ones.

One things that bothers me about the MDA III is the keyboard. the guys are not sticking up like a normal thumb keyboard and I am not sure this would be usable. Also, I heard some where the the MDA III does not have a standard headphone jack and that bothers me.

Do we have any MDA II owners that play mp3's on their units, if so how do they sound.

currently I am using a Ipaq 3970 as a pda and mp3 player. the batteries however are not that great as I think they are dying.

The other thing is I guess I can only obtain what ever is available. I doubt I am going to see the MDA III here (india) for a while. I am an american living abroad.

Does anyone know where to get any of the devices here? or have any insight on which one I should get?

There are some online stores that will ship worldwide, and if you buy a SIM-unlocked version, you can plug in your SIM card and use it there.

I know I have no problems shipping it world wide. just the duty that the indian government imposes on imports.

The thing that upsets me the most, no one can give me a clear, concrete answer on what the duty tax is. Some even say its as high as 60 % of the total value of the device. and some even say its free...

The big worry for me is to order something like the MDA III, and then it gets here and they tell me that I have to pay 60% duty.

Is there anyone that imported something into india. ? If anyone knows the duty information it would be more than helpful.

You should not buy a MDA III unless you want a german device. If it comes as english it has been hacked to an english rom and all warranty has be voided.

Buy an imate.

You need to calculate it. I think it is roughly around 40%.
