I signed up for the Pocket MSN service. I eventually got the software downloaded and installed.

While the Hotmail plugin for pocket inbox works fine. My MSN messenger fails to connect. As soon as I uninstall the program my messenger starts working again. I usually get a message saying that the Messenger service is unavailable.

Is anyone else having this trouble? I have tried contacting MSN Support but they simply ask pointless questions about whether I am running windows XP or and using MSN messenger 6.2. The concept of mobile devices does not seem to have trickled through to the support department.

If anyone know a way to fix this or a workaround, I would be really grateful.

Thanks,

Tom

PS: I am running Pocket PC 2003 on an upgraded hp ipaq 5450. I have also experienced the same problem on an orange M1000 (XDA II).

Don't know a solution for your problem, just popped in to say mine works. It's installed on a Dell X30 (WM2003SE). I do access it from the Today screen plug-in though, not from the Progams page icon. Not sure if that makes a diff, and don't have it here to check.

If you want hotmail/msn integration with Pocket Outlook whithout the periodic fees try HTTPMail. You can get it from either PocketGear or Handango (just search for it).

Yes I cancelled Pocket MSN today and installed httpmail which works perfectly alongside the free version of msn messenger.

Pocket MSN = $50 per year
httpmail + free pocket messenger = $5 one off payment for httpmail!

hmm for some reason after I installed httpmail i dont need to register or anything. Although they have this register httpmail icon in the programs, when i just randomly enter an inccorect key, it will say its not correct and i have 0 evaluation days left. But it still works fine in my inbox.

anyways, when you use httpmail and get your mails off your hotmail, when you delete them from your ppc does it delete from the hotmail server as well??

Yes everything I do is updated on the hotmail server including deleting e-mails.

the first time i deleted a mail and press send/receive, i received the same mail again as a new mail. The second time i deleted it, it deletes off the server. I am going to test a couple more times and see if its my inbox's problem.

For some reason for all my POP3 accounts they dont get deleted off the server. How can I enable it?? thanks![/quote]

Tap Tools->Options->Storage and make sure that the Empty delete items option is not set to Immediately. When this options is set to immediately empty the delted items folder any message that you delete gets zapped instantly and will not be placed in the delete items folder, hence HTTPMail can't keep track of it and will download it again thinking it is a new one (again this will only happen if set to immediately empty the deleted items folder). POP3 is a special case because there's no deleted items folder on the server, Inbox doesn't trully delete the messages from POP3 accounts so that your desktop e-mail client can also get them.
Thank you for pointing out the registration tool problem, it just fails to display the remaining evaluation time properly but functionally everything works as expected (i.e. you still have 30 days of evaluation).
