Here's a shot of their Canadian website:

The million-dollar question now is if there will be a US release or not -- but it doesn't make much sense if there's a Canadian release and there isn't a US release, right? Interestingly, I was at a PR event last night (which I'll be reporting on in a few days) and the Toshiba folks steadfastly held to the party line of "no planned releases for the US" (to be precise, I'm not sure if they said NA or US). I'd love for them to be wrong. ;)

No you are not. Europe and Asia gets it first, then Canada second and the US none.

I had an email from the Greek distributor this morning regarding the availability of e830. They say that it will be sold in France, UK and US. Canada probably is "part" of US (sorry, Jason) and the fact that they will have the French version makes it more attractive.

I've been calling Toshiba UK, but they still have no information about the e830. :|
I'll keep trying.....

If Canada get this before the US, I'll eat my shorts and walk around the street clucking(sp?) like a chicken.

I'm going to hold you up to that. If it is true, video footage would be great. And then NeoAxim can put it on angryhamster.com :D
And despite all the news about the US not getting the device, it's only a walk across the border anyway. :)

Careful there. We had a lot of things that US did not get. Often times companies will test the NA market by doing a market research in Canada. Can anyone say McDonald's Pizza?

According to BargainPDA - Toshiba is adamant that there would be NO US release of the e830.
Don't know what you guys are complaining about. Sure we get more cool stuffs but the PDAs that are actually on sale in your country are much cheaper than over here (UK). Also all the Amazon offers and crazy rebates do not apply outside the US.
So we are even. We spend more money on a single (but cool) item - you spend less on many.

I think the Canadian site shows a clear release for the e830 in Canada including MSRP and all. I've never seen an item like this released only in Canada, as they just wouldn't bother. They are always North American releases, ROMs and everything. So, despite all the insistence, I think the decision has already been made at head office. What you're seeing is just the fog of war.

Simple explanation:
The US product pipeline is not empty of e80x product and until it is they won't bring over the 830 or even admit it is coming.
That said, Canada does get a lot of cool stuff that never shows up south of the border. The Acura 1.8 for one. ;-)

Well, I live in New Hampshire, so it's only a small hassle for me.

That price is in canadian dollar right? So that would be like ~544 US dollar. Hey, hey, HEY! I want one!

The e830 is listed with our supplier with a small number of units with an ETA of October 1st so we have added it to our site. It would not be listed with our supplier if it was not coming to Canada...

I'm sure most computer internet vendors would be happy to ship anywhere in the USA. Most seniors order their pharmaceuticals from here.

Hi,
I have few questions regarding this e830 PPC.
1) When will it be available in Asia and Europe? Any expected retail selling price?
2) Does e830 has any USB host port built-in? I'm not referring the Presentation Pack module. Without this presentation pack, is the USB port on the e830 a host type or slave type?
BRegards,
Felix

I don't have any news on it, yet.

Seeing as how the e805 has USB host built-in, I'd assume this one does too. The presentation pack simply adjusts the pins so that it's useable by standard USB connectors. I believe there are adapters that you can buy that give you the USB host port on the e805 so that you don't need the presentation pack.

Any chance of a Pocket PC thoughts review?
The only one I can find is a French website. I read the translation and am still not sure of what I know.
