Okay, I went and saw the x30 yesterday, and out of everything I'd have to say I was most impressed by the cradle!

What's up with these universal lego cradles we get with iPAQs now? The last time I had a cradle packed in with my ipaq, 3360, it was a work of art. It had slots for extra stylii, moving parts to accomodate sleeves, and just looked down right sexy on my desk...

Enter the 4155... Okay, so I'm stoked I got a cradle at least this time, after getting hosed on one with my 1945, but is it me, or is it harder than heck seat the 4155 properly without fear of scratching up the back of the unit?

In any case, I think Dell has the sexiest looking cradles EVAR, I mean I became furiously jealous when I saw the dell logo light up whence docked...

How are the Asus cradles? Toshiba and Viewsonic?

My first Pocket PC was the Axim X5 Basic. It didn't come with a cradle, but I was ok with it. Then this past summer I got the Asus MyPal A716. The cradle was small, very basic, and it was hard to put the A716 in with one hand. I returned it for various reasons and recently purchased the X30 High. I have to agree with you. This cradle kicks ass! It is REALLY sexy, and it has a spare battery charger (which is uncommon these days) and 2 stylus holders! And of course, the coolest thing is the Dell logo that apprears out of no where! VERY COOL!

I'd be willing ot pay for such a quality cradle. It really is a nice compliment to such a valuable resource. The original 3630's cradle was as much of a statement as the ipaq itself, I wish HP kept that level of integrity as it's product line grew, but unfortunately, in order to achieve something like that, you've got to streamline your approach, aka platform technology and cradles with backs that pop off to accomodate all models in it's series.

I hope future ipaq's incorporate Dell's level of design into their cradles, their asthetically as important as matching your shoes to your suit IMHO, and these current batch of ipaqs are wearing sneakers with a silver armani :\
