I have a iPAQ 3955 and am using the iPAQ backup program that came with MS PPC 2002 vers 3.0.11171. I have backed up several times in the past to my 112 mb SD card but I now receive an error. I am able to backup just fine to my PC.
On my backup page I have the storage card set as my destination with the name backup.pbf. The files at the top are selected but when I press backup & start I receive: "A program error has occurred and a log file <\Temp\iPAQBackupLog.txt> has been generated."
I have tried renaming my backup file on the SD card but I always get the same error. The SD card is write enabled. In File Explorer I try to delete the backup file in the storage card but I get "Problem deleting file 'Backup'. Any ideas?
Thanks, Dave :(

Try manually deleting the backup file and check how many backup files are saved.

Dave, can you post the contents of that error log that's generated? I think we'd be able to help you out better then.

I am unable to delete the backup file, I receive "problem deleting file backup."
Here is an edited short version of the logfile that was created. I show the error messages and other info near the end of the log.
Free KBytes:86816
Image size: 38253KB
Free: 86816kb
error on SHCloseApps
createFileW failed\StorageCard\Back.pbf 19
m_ImageFile.Open() failed 183
A program error has occurred and a log file has been generated.
END
Thanks,
Dave

Can you write at all to the storage card? Are you able to put other files on the storage card, and more specifically, within the folder you put your backups into?
I'd suggest backing up your storage card to your computer and then reformatting the card. That will most likely fix the problem.

I have never done any writing to my storage card except for backups and I do not know any way to write a file to it.
I could easily reformat my storage card but I don't know how to. All I have on it is an old backup. I have the PPC backed up to my PC. Thanks, Dave

What other software do you have installed? Soft-reset your device and try a manual backup.

After syncing with my PC late last night, my backup file shows an atribute of read only but it is greyed out not allowing me to change it. Any ideas how to delete it now? Thanks, Dave :?:

Dave, I think you're going to have to reformat your card. Here's how...
First, if you have anything on your card, copy it off the card onto your computer.
Now I suggest downloading a trial of Resco Explorer 2003 (http://www.resco-net.com/explorer.asp). You can use that to format your storage card easiliy.

Thanks Zack and WE! I will download the Resco Explorer you mentioned or perhaps I will buy their entire utility pack. I have never bought any add on software. Dave :)
