In our house we all have our own computers and PPCs. All of the computers are networked. We all use Outlook for calendar and contacts, though only one of us (that be me) use Outlook for email, the others use Outlook express. What I want is a way, program, or whatever that will allow any of us to view each others outlook calendars or contacts from our individual computers and enter information into the individual outlook calendar and contacts. Short of setting up an exchange server, what are the options.
The goal is for each of us to set up task or appointments so that when that they entered into our PPCs. If I could put a task on my wife's or son's outlook, then when they synch it would be on their PPC.
Thanks

The only way is to stop using outlook. There is no way to share informaion in outlook without an exchange server. But once you lose outlook, you can't sync with the PPC...... It's a case of pick which annoyance you want to live with.....

In Outlook, you can create a task and assign it to someone in your contacts list. It sends the task to them. I don't know if Outlook Express will pick it up or not. Same for an appointment. You can assign attendees for the appt and it'll go into their calendar. Again, I don't know.
You said that they synch their PPCs? That means they are NOT using Outlook Express.
Another option to check out is the OUtlook Intellisync software for MSN. If you each had an MSN account, you can sync your calendar to the MSN calendar and allow whomever you want permission to look at it.
This was something I was toying with with my Wife & my calendars...
She uses Netscape 4.x for email, but OL Calendar since it syncs with the iPaq.
This was a theory of mine, but I haven't tried it...
- Installing Intelisync on her machine to sync email with the Ipaq with NS
- Since NS won't recognize the WIN.DAT attachment, no biggie, just ignore it on the PC.
- Once synced from NS, the iPaq will have the Accept/Reject button in the Pocket Outlook. Hit accept, email is deleted from iPaq, NS as normal.
- iPaq via Activesync will sync with Outlook.
All should be up to date. OE should be able to be switched in with NS. Doing things this way keeps the updates in-house rather than on MSN as described below, though IntSync you will need to purchase vs free MSN sync.
Has anyone tried this?

Oops forgot a part.
While I cannot see her calendar, I can invite her to 'appointments' and my Outlook (or from my ppc) will send her the email request. I think this is a one way street though... not sure she could do the same for me, unless she did it from the iPaq.
Mind you if I set up her email sending capability in Outlook, it should be able to send me requests as well.
Like I said just a theory...

I did a bit of google searching and found a program called office calendar. I downloaded the trial and set up the server. It seemed to work, but the synchronization was a bit cumbersome and slow. The big drawback was the $99 per user cost. A lot less than exchange server, but still a bit much for the need. Guess I will just have to get up off my A-- and go over to my wife's computer and enter the tasks etc. If I could get her to use outlook instead of outlook express for email, I think I could send request via email that would be inserted in her calendar.
