Its specs have me drooling for months now. Imagine a Treo 600 without the antenna stub, including WiFi, Bluetooth, a 1.3 Megapixel camera, and running Windows Mobile Software for Pocket PC Phone Edition...

People around me are getting nuts because of my never ending comparing the P50 to all other devices out there. And there is a problem with that: the P50 isn't actually out there. In fact, I've never seen a report by someone who actually had a working device in their hands. Ever since the first reports all I've seen are specs and pictures. But now MSMobiles reports that BenQ might be introducing the P50 later this month. This guess is based on nothing more than BenQ stating they're going to release a top model with a 1.3 megapixel camera, so it might be wrong. But I agree with MSMobiles: BenQ should hurry. Both in order to release the phone before other phones make its specs less drooling, and to end my agony. And BenQ, if you're reading this: I Will Clean Offices For A Preview.

Danny Yao, managing director of BenQ Taiwan said that this month BenQ will introduce four cell phone models to the local Taiwanese market including one top model with camera resolution of 1.3 megapixel.
Actually BenQ is going to introduce BenQ S700, not P50. MSMobiles demonstrated an incompetence. P50 is absolutely unready for market; even there is no working R&D sample not to mention pre-commercial one.

If that is true, that is exactly what I was afraid of, hence my questionmarks. Although it means I'll be in agony for a bit longer, I guess it also means I don't have to be afraid that I'll need to clean offices for a while. ;)

I just want the iPAQ 4700 please -nowI'm to that point too. I haven't been using WiFi on my iPaq since the battery cover on my PC Card expansion pack broke a month ago. I figured bluetooth would be good enough and I could live without Internet on-the-go, but I also thought the hx4705 would be released relatively soon. :| Guess not.

Every Sunday night I think that although I hate Mondays, maybe this Monday will bring the release of the 4700, and I actually start to look forward to Monday.

I'm getting very impatient, and my 5500 is getting more and more unstable. WiFi keeps disappearing, and the power connection is so bad that I can only reliably charge it by putting it in a PC sleeve and using the sleeve power connection.

Actually, I want both the 4700 and the new Toshiba to come out at the same time, so I can see some comparisons before I decide.

LOOX 720 and now please.

(words coming from a current and not ever again HP user)

sorry guys I am not eating HP sh*t again - all yours

you might remember me next year when you will be (once more) complaining why HP is not upgrading the device or how censored (and unhelpful - except from other users) their forum is, how the quality is not on par with HP products (no HP PDA is on par with other HP products but you seem to forget EVERY time ALL OVER again) etc.

BenQ would be nice for a PocketPC fan (along with a real 2004 VGA PDA) if somebody could tell us complete real characteristics (I gues we'll know soon enough).

I agree with Marlof.....the P50 is an amazing device....almost to good to be true (vaporware? :worried: ). And from BenQ (BenWho?). What are they waiting for?

I emailed a PR contact at BenQ about the P50 and they said they had no information about it for me, so that tends to mean it's a fair ways off...

I'm with you on the "no more HP devices" bandwagon. At least until their customer support/service policies show a drastic improvement.

Too bad about the "vapor quotient" of this report. I'm dying to consolidate my gadgets into a single device, and it looks like this would be a good start. Today, I carry a camera, PPC, and Nokia cellphone. The Scott eVest is looking more and more appealing

Yeah, but did you stress that I am willing to clean their Dutch quarters to get a preview unit? ;)

I think that we ALL like the P50 (I just hope it has EDGE for GSM models)

but BenQ is a reputible company from the east. they did a great job with the Symbian UIQ P30, but THEY TAKE FOREVER TO RELEASE PHONES.

We'll be lucky to see it by next summer, IMHO, if their delivery of the P50 is similar to the delivery of the P30

If this device is introduced at a decent price, I'd snatch it up in a hurry. I'm fed up of having bulges in my pockets from having my Pocket PC, cell phone, and keys stuck in them!

Now where are bluetooth locks so I can eliminate keys? ;)
