Why Didn't My WiFi Card See the Network?

I visited my brother a few weekends ago. His home network uses the same Linksys 802.11g broadband router that I have at home. My Ambicom WL100X WiFi card has worked reliably with my home network as well as every other wireless network I've encountered, but it absolutely refused to see my brother's network.

Anyone have an idea what might cause such a problem?

Well your brother may have had MAC filtering enabled or he might have set his router to not broadcast it's SSID, both good ideas for wireless security.

or maybe the router wasn't broadcasting its ssid, again used for security
