<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.tekguru.co.uk/phpBB2/index.php?article=4000' target='_blank'>http://www.tekguru.co.uk/phpBB2/ind...hp?article=4000</a><br /><br /></div>TekGuru is reporting on O2's plans to release a successor to the popular XDA II product in the Europe.<br /><br /><i>"Having secured over a third of the UK’s wireless handheld market* with the Xda II, O2 today announced the introduction of two brand new Xda II devices, the Xda IIs and XDA IIi. The new devices will include new enhancements to the integrated PDA and mobile handset, whilst retaining the core functions of the original Xda II platform that have proved so popular with both consumer and business customers. The Xda IIs will be available in the UK and Ireland on 1st November 2004, Germany by December 2004, and the XDA IIi early 2005."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/parekh-20040908-XDAIIs.jpg" /><br /><br />It clearly looks like the HTC Blue Angel, which we've previously referred to as the XDA III/MDA III, so I guess there's yet another name for it. I like the black styling, myself. The unit's quadband -- so I hope we see unlocked versions in North America soon. 8)

.... and if anyone has any comments it would be appreciated if they could post them on Tekguru as O2 will be reviewing the users comments and thoughts. Cheers.

Those look like pretty cool specs. I would take this over the MPx if that's the case. When is someone in the US going to finally release something that the rest of the world has?!

My one year contract with o2 just finished and have been looking at mobiles for upgrades. This looks like a good candidate but knowing o2's pricing policy I probably won't get it. I think I will just stick to my current devices for now and just get a K700 or 7610 and get a new high end PDA next year.

Looks sweet! 10 g lighter than announced for the MDA III. Was it really 1.3mpix camera? The text says 1.3 and the specsfurther down 0.3.... Or is the camera the difference between the models? In Sweden I,ve seen the price dropped on the QTEK 2020 (XDA II) so it can't be that longbefore the new model arrives...

IIs has 0.3Mp while IIi has 1.3Mp

I believe they will change the model name of XDA III. The improvements are quite huge it (IMO) qualifies to have a new model number.

XDA II, XDA IIs, XDA IIi. The normal consumer will be confused. Just call it XDA II, XDA III and XDA IV.

Or XDA cheapo, XDA regular, XDA expensivo :p

Seriously, to name a device as XDA IV, it has an all-new-super-device with better processor, more memory, VGA (XGA?), Dual SD slot, etc. etc.

What ever you call it - just get them to US! This has been the longest tease ever!

Don't forget to post any comments on Tekguru guys as that is the only forum O2 will be reading comments on, so if you want your thoughts to be considered by O2......

Verrry nice, thanks tekguru! (I'm not sure asking O2 anything is applicable to me as I'm in the US though?)

Oh, so the IIi is the XDA IV? Wow, I was all excited like Ryan (what with all the revelations like Second Edition), until someone said next year? Perhaps even longer for the US? :(

But anyways, what I wanted to find out is, will all XDA III platform devices have quad-band? That's what I want for true international, I'm just afraid some OEM version will only have tri-band??

What, you've somehow convinced everybody at O2 to read only your site? Yeah, right. Sounds pretty cocky to me.

Your site is great and I read it every day. But, I read somewhere that Jason's site is literally the most-read, number-one Pocket PC Web site in the known universe. So, I doubt that O2 would completely ignore anything posted here.

But, hey, that's just me...

Maybe you're forgettin that Tekguru is a UK based site and O2 is a UK company - so what Tekguru has said is probably true and not cocky at all. Also please point out which part of his post stated that everyone in O2 would be reading his site. I assumed that he was referring to the relevant marketing people at O2.

Sorry to burst your bubble and you may want to sit down before reading on, but not everyone feels the need to run things past North American consumers before making marketing decisions - especially not mobile 'phone companies, as the market for these products in Asia and Europe is more mature.

Somebody can correct me if I am wrong, but it actually appears as though the family is such:

HTC MDA I XDA I is the triband GSM version

-There is a midpoint here called the Audiovox PPC 5050 (available in Canada), which is CDMA2000 and specs of MDA II, but the body of the MDA I

HTC MDA II XDA II is also triband GSM

-another midpoint will the MDA IIi, which will have the specs of the MDA III plus faster processor and improved camera with the body of a XDA II

HTC Harrier (CDMA2000 version) and HTC Blue Angel MDA III (quadband GSM) are similar in specs. This will also be the IIs

Also, we have the Magician is floating around too.

Wow, HTC is busy

Hello. Do you think that O2 will carry this phone? I've heard, but don't know if it is true or not, that O2 has better support or maybe it was i-Mate. Let's here it from you guys which way or the other. Thanks and let's hope this comes out soon :devilboy:
