Looking for a new hard drive to store music, movies, games, etc...
I want SATA, SCSI seems to expensive and I need high capacity 2-300MB. This one has 16MB buffer which seems to be an important factor.

Is this good?

Moved to Off-Topic, as I'm assuming you don't want this for your Pocket PC. ;)

Yes, it looks pretty decent from my quick glance. One of the key things here is this is one of the new SATA drives that feature a 3-year warranty. Seagate, and now Maxtor, have decided to up theirs after years of 1-year warranty disks.

SCSI drivers have better specs than SATA drivers for sure but they are too expensive and unless you are using a server, you wont notice a difference proportional to the money you spend. so go for a SATA

will I see any difference with the 16MB buffer rather than the 8MB?

16 megs is quite bit amount of buffer for a hard drive but it is more important how the buffer is utilized by the harddrive, i have read comparison test about hard drives about a year ago and i was suprised that some harddrives with 2 megs of buffer had better performance results than the ones with 8 megs of buffer

That Maxtor drive you're looking at is AWESOME - it's only a little bit slower than the 10,000 RPM Raptor drives, and it has much more capacity. Maximum PC rated the drive very highly - go for it!
