I just upgraded to MS SP2 and now have problems with Active sync and my 1945. It will not recognize the device when I connect via USB. Upon initial connection, I hear the "USB sound" but Active Sync will not start and just sits there "device not connected". I did several soft resets and also uninstalled and reinstalled Active Sync. It now says "no partnership". :bad-words:
Any suggestions other then a hard reset.
Thanks

It's strange that you've come across this. Is your USB connection via a hub or a direct connection?

Have you tried to delete the partnership and create a new one? I haven't had any problems recently, but that's one of the first things I try when restarting/resetting doesn't fix it.

I am connected directly to the PC. I also removed (uninstalled) SP2 with no improvment. Also, Active Sync currently does not show a partnership.
It really seems that I need to hard reset my 1945 but I am wondering how I can do a restore if I cannot connect to Active Sync. I have a very resent backup file (Sprite Backup) but I am afraid that it will still not recognize my 1945. Thanks for your help.

well as long as you have a recent back up, you dont have to worry about the situation, but i dont think that a hard reset will solve your problem

Do you recall being prompted about allowing ActiveSync to access the network, or something to that affect? Don't recall the specific question. SP2 turns on your firewall by default, which will effect ActiveSync as it sets up an independent network to work over.
Go into your control panel and look at the Windows Firewall. Open it and go to the Exceptions tab. Are there entries for both ActiveSync Application and ActiveSync Connection Manager? Are they both checked if you have them?
You can turn the firewall off on the General Tab, but you'll get nagged about it.

Thanks for all the input, it turns our that the SD card was corrupted. Some of the files had strange file extensions and where in the gigabite range... Anyway, I did a hard reset and that solved the active sync connection problem. However, the backup only saves what is in RAM and not on the SD card. My problem was on the SD card and now I need to load everything back into the SD because I do not have a backup. I now learned the hard way to make a hard copy of my SD card. OH WELL..
Thanks for all your help.. :D
